Man I need to get to more garage sales. My only prize finds are my lyman gen 6 powder dispenser I got on ebay for $120 and an 8 lb jug of 4831sc I got just before everything got expensive. Full retail at $110.

Saw a Dillon SDB in 9mm on craiglist at an estate sale for $400. Called on it on a Friday to see if she still had it, but couldn’t make it out before the sale was over as I had family stuff come up. Texted the seller on Monday and apologized for not making it and told her I wished her well assuming it was sold. She texted back that it was not sold and that the estate liquidation offered her $140 for it. I asked her what her best cash price thinking it would be more, but she said $100. I met her 30minutes later and had it in hand. Turns out it was a couple downsizing for a move, and they were glad I could use it. We had a great conversation and I took it home. About 3 weeks later she texts and asks if I wanted “the stuff that went with it”. She had found another box of stuff and told me it was mine if I wanted it. I couldn’t get over there fast enough. It had a Dillon beam scale, a Lyman Turbo Twin, 1000 once fired brass, an RCBS bullet puller, a set of calipers, several bags of tumbling media, and several bullet trays! I offered to pay her for it, but she was just really happy that someone could use “all that old stuff. “
Amazing how we Get tired of what we once loved to do. Hope I never get tired of reloading.

I bought a RCBS Primer Pocked Swager Combo #9495 at a gun show for 10 bucks. Looked like new in original box with instructions. Started swaging 7.62 brass everything went great, but when I started to swage 5.56 brass I found the back up rod was bent. I e-mailed RCBS with the true story and they sent me a new one NO CHARGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. How's that for customer service ? hdbiker

I answered a CL add for a "reloading business" back about 2001. This was well before the crush. The guy had 4 Lee Pro-1000s, a Lyman turret press, and a CH single stage "and other items" advertised for $800. At a time when average shooters weren't reloading that was a lot of money. He had just moved in from out of state, everything was in storage bins in his daughter's garage and she wanted the space back. I was just hoping to get one of the progressives and a set of dies, but I could see other items in his photos not mentioned in the ad. So I took a lot of money with me... just in case.

When we met it was clear he was an avid hunter and reloader, and a really nice guy. Conversations revealed that I was not the first guy wanting a single press. He was clearly under pressure to clear out the garage, and didn't want to sell individual items, so my son and I kept going through boxes and mentally cataloging what he had. Finally, without any prodding on my part, he said he's sell it all for $600, but I had to clear the garage. It was clearly way more than I needed to get back into reloading, but I knew I could sell the excess on Ebay and so we made a deal.

The "deal" ended up filling the entire bed of a Ranger pickup. Besides the 6 presses, there were 35 complete sets of reloading dies, numerous Pro-1000 turrets and shellplates, 10K primers, several pounds of powder, a std Dillon 750 tumbler, a large Dillon 2000 tumbler, 2 Dillon powder measures (adapted to the Lee presses), 10 assorted Dillon Powder Funnels, RCBS 505 scale, a CH powder measure, reloading manuals, a bucket of assorted brass, assorted bullets, and more. All this came packed in the stack-able plastic boxes and 5 gal buckets he had it stored in. And he gave my son a "spam can" of Russian 7.62 which clearly made his day !

I ended up selling all the Lee presses and most of the die sets to buy a Dillon 550. Since then, I've been able to "gift" the CH press, and many of the primers and powders to help other reloaders get started. And I'm still using the Dillon tumblers to this day !

:)

Garage Sale find. Lyman expert kit with spar t turret press powder measure, scale, trimmer with all accesories, plus another scale and powder measure. Also small items like primer tray, deburr tool, lube pad etc. Still in styrofoam packaging unused. $25!

Guy came in the shop the other day and asked if anyone loaded 45-70. I said I did and he said to come out to his car and I could have some leftover supplies. He gave me two 100 round boxes of new brass and 1500 405grain commercial sized and lubed bullets. Wouldn't take anything. Gonna take a while to use that up with a single shot.

Just got a phone call today. The $20 I put into a raffle back in november paid off and I won the new shotgun. It's out of state and will have to be shipped, so I told the gal that I would reimburse her for the shipping if she would send me a photo of her receipt. Don't recall if it was a Beretta or a Benelli, but was one of the two. The surprise will be worth it! :D

Every time I have been to an estate sale, garage sale, moving sale, or the like, the people trying to dispose of reloading equipment or components have had them priced like they were new.

One guy had a bunch of 30 Carbine brass (RA 53 headstamp) that looked like it had been buried at sea since the Korean War that he was asking 20 cents a piece. When I pointed out I could buy new Starline brass for 24 cents each, he said that if he sold for less it would dishonor his grandfather's memory.

I later found some LC 69 headstamp 30 Carbine brass in remarkably good condition for 9 cents each, so I hope the one guy was able to honor his grandfather with someone else's money.

On 2 different occasions I bought complete Dillon SDB’s with 2 caliber changeovers for $50.00 ea.
I have also bought 2 perfect Star reloaders in .45 and .38 and a star lubrisizer with about 10 sizer die sets and 2 6 cavity Lyman molds all for $200.00!
I have also bought 4 MEC 9000’s(1 ea in 12,20,28 and .410) for $500.00 and a Dillon SL900 for $400.00.

Did you wear a mask?

Had a friend that was pulling up stakes and heading to California and wasn't going to reload. Gave me his RCBS set, 4 die sets, 8 boxes of bullets and a scale. Paid him $20 and filled his tank up with gas.

He dishonored his grandfather when he came up with that lame nonsense.
