Looking for ideas and suggestions to counter my Alma Mater's selection for a speaker, if it's worth it:

Former Mayor Helmke Next in Forum Series
February 11, 2008

Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and former Fort Wayne mayor, will be the guest speaker at Indiana Tech’s next University Forum.

Helmke’s presentation at 6:30 p.m. March 6 in the Andorfer Commons theater is titled “Guns, Politics, and the 2nd Amendment..” The event is free and open to the public.

Helmke served three terms as mayor of Fort Wayne, from 1988 through 2000, and is a former president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Helmke has been active in seeking solutions to gun violence for many years. He worked with Jim and Sarah Brady in the early 1990s to build support for the Brady Law and the federal assault weapons ban. He has been president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence since July 2006.

Helmke is an Indiana native and graduate of Fort Wayne’s North Side High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, and a law degree from Yale University.

You couldn't do any better than John Lott.

Here in Ohio before the passage of our Concealed Carry law, our perennial anti-gun clown du jour, Toby Hoover, called a meeting in an Independence, Ohio public park. When she showed up, she and her pals were outnumbered at least three to one by pro-gun people, then to turn the knife in the wound, John Lott showed up unannounced to completely steal her thunder. The news media practically trampled Toby under foot in their rush to cover Lott's speech.
