Been searching the board(s) for reviews and opinions of inexpensive red dot optics to mount on a weaver base I have on an AK. I've found out that there is quiet a variety out there. By inexpensive, I mean about $100 or less. I'm saving for "quality" optics for my AR, so I don't want to spend a lot on the AK for an EOTech or Aimpoint. The AK is a plinker only, for general plinking usage, say from 25 to 50yds, .
Given the above, my questions are:
1) What is the difference between to using the 30mm/42mm optics vs the more traditional looking tube red dots? Eye relief, FOV, etc?
2) I've read that the cheaper ones have parallax issues. Is there a cut-off point or brand name to avoid? Does parallax really matter for plinking purposes?
3) Are one of the cheaper (Simmons, Tasco, BSA, etc in the $30 - $40) ones okay, or should I go with one of the more expensive ones (Millett, Redfield, Bushnell, etc.)?
Thanks!
