I have an opportunity to purchase an Ithaca 12 ga side by side from someone privately. I looked it over the other day, debating whether I need another 12 ga or not, as I don't bird hunt all that often. Thing is, it's a beautiful shotgun and well maintained. So basically I'm looking for some info on the shotgun. I don't know a whole lot about shotguns...
I don't have the model number unfortunately. It's a side-by-side with a single trigger. There's a small button on the trigger which I believe selects the barrel. It's chambered for 2 3/4 in shells. There is some engraving on the receiver. It was manufactured in Japan.
Is this enough information to tell anyone what it is I was looking at? How do the Ithaca firearms compare in quality?
Am I correct that the 'button' on the trigger is the barrel selector? If so, does it switch automatically after the initial round is fired?
Thanks for the help, and sorry for the vague information!
