 I'm new to THR and was looking the Blackpower forum over. Looks like it is dedicated to more traditional types of muzzleloading, although I notice an occasional reference to Triple 7 & other "blackpowder substitutes". I use an inline for deer hunting and was wondering if this forum is ever used for such interests?

Inlines

LlanoEstacado, I like to shoot both inlines and traditional guns and I haven't felt any hostily towards inlines on this forum. I started out shooting replica guns because that was the state hunting requirement when I began, along with only allowing a 1X scope. But soon afterward, the regulations began to change as well as the timing of the muzzle loading deer season, in my state anyway. The number of BP hunters had dwindled while the deer population exploded. And because archery became way more popular, archery season was extended to in effect replace the early BP deer season, pushing it into December when winter conditions often prevail and most deer have already been harvested. So, I believe that the growth of inlines has served to rejuvenate BP deer season here, and brought in quite a lot of new shotgun/centerfire deer hunters who wouldn't be interested in shooting traditional styled guns, especially in December. I also believe that many people who hunt with inlines drift towards shooting PRB's for recreation once they have caught the bug. PRB's are a lot cheaper to shoot and aren't as finicky to load for plinking, and certainly don't require full house hunting loads.
So, don't think that you are the only person who would like to talk about inlines. They present quite a few challenges and lots of satisfaction for both new and old style BP shooters. I've noticed that there are a lot of BP revolver and single shot pistol shooters who visit this forum, and some of these designs aren't very much different from inlines when you think about it. And shooting traditional guns doesn't necessarily mean only shooting round balls. So, I think that we all have some degree of BP shooting interests in common. Welcome aboard and let us know what specific topics you'd like to talk about. Any forum is only as diverse as the people who care to visit it. ;)

Many of the users here are BP Hunters. It's not easy to enjoy cap and ball shooting if you're not involved in BP rifles. I, myself, hunt primarily with inlines. My favorite is the Sav10ML II which used smokeless powder. But now that I have moved up to Washington State, rifles with exposed ignition systems, using either the no. 10/11 caps or muskets caps, and with open sights is the law here. So I went back to my Traditions .50 cal Lightning Bolt.
