interesting - more expensive ammunition is more accurate?

Rules a lot of FMJ ammo out.
Hornady is about the only fmj that has been accurate enough for that. I use vmax or soft points in 22 calibers. I don't burn hundreds of rounds at a time either, so I'm probably not their intended market. 308 on the other hand has several fmj loads that are easily accurate enough to shoot.

First picture is from a Weatherby .243 that’s going deer hunting tomorrow. Slightly under 1/2” with Federal Premium hunting ammo. Just checking zero, not really trying for ultimate groups

Second is from my Browning X bolt 7 Mag. It’s in the .4’s. 168 grain Berger Match Hunter. Those bullets alone are over fifty cents each. And worth it.

Over the years I have bought very little factory ammo, so my experience with it is limited. One thing I have found out is that nothing is certain, you have to shoot it and see what happens. I agree that FMJ bulk bullets very rarely shoot well. Another thing about factory ammo is that if you find some that shoots well, a different lot # may not shoot as well.

Just for the record, I seldom find factory ammo that shoots as well as my handloads. Even stuff like Blackhills match, Federal Gold Metal match and Lack City match. The only thing that I can't consistently beat is Weatherby ammo loaded by Norma. Hurts my feelings it does!
