A dual chambered rifle barrel.

6mm Rem on one end, and 6mm PPC on the other.

Threaded on both ends for a Model 70 push feed receiver.

Using either end of the barrel, groups were really good, and hitting practically in the same POI. (1 hole groups.)

Who woulda thunk!

That is interesting and quite clever. So in theory a guy could have a 308/300 mag?

Do you by any chance have a link?

I would imagine neck protrusion of the alpha angle diameter quotient would be disturbed by the cylindrical-conoidal back action of the case support matrix in each chamber.

Actually I have no idea what I'm talking about. But I do thinks it's cool! Could one have a .223 and a .22-250? That would be AWESOME!!!

A 'smith told me some years ago he was planning to make one body length chamber section for a barrel for a .308 Win. and .243 Win, then thread their front from the shoulder forward for the back end of the barrels so each could be screwed onto the chamber section. The barrel section would have the different dimensions from the shoulder forward. Very close thread tolerances were needed and the chamber-barrel sections would have a 1.2" diameter for strength.

Sounds good to me.

With two bolts, maybe.
No, he used one bolt, but different extractors.
Really different case head sizes such as .223 / 22-250, or 308 / 300 Mag would require two bolts.

Do you by any chance have a link?
No, too early for that. You have to buy the magazine.

Well, it would take an action wrench & barrel vice to change a model 70 barrel.

But I assume the guy who did this is a pretty fair gunsmith, as he did all the work of turning the barrel blank, threading it, and chambering it.

Doing it with a Savage action would be much simpler.

Seems like a successful trial and story. Surprising groups too.

I would have guessed the chamber on the opposite end would have negative results. But it didn't.

Might be the start of something new!

Is it the April issue by any chance? That first day of April is always good for "interesting" engineering feats.

Never mind, OP said it wad March issue.

I can only hope to set myself up with the tools and knowledge to just head out to the shop with a barrel blank and come back in with a piece of work like that!

I loved the brass thread protector he made.
It gave that old Winchester an oddly futuristic "laser rifle" kind of look.

That'd be a lot of work to pull the receiver off the opposite end each time. Wouldn't it be expedient to put a receiver on each end and just pull the bolt and use the other receiver as a muzzle brake? :D

Just wait. Someone will come along, and mount-up an action on both ends, to test if both ends of the barrel can be used at the same time. :neener:
