I took my girlfriend to the range today. She's gone a couple of times before with other friends, but she's never shot more than a few magazines. Knowing her inexperience I left the Kimber Custom II at home and decided to bring along just the 22/45 so I could focus on helping her.

I shouldn't have worried. After a quick lesson on the four rules and a demonstration of how to use the pistol, she proceeded to shoot the ten-ring out. She didn't shoot one ragged hole, but she did have excellent groups. She out-shot me! :what: Now granted, I haven't been at this all that long, but it's still a bit disconcerting being schooled by a newbie. Maybe I'm just a great teacher!

Seriously she had a lot of fun. At first she didn't like the idea of me having a gun, but now she's definitely warming up to the idea. I'm going to become a member of the local range next month. When I told her this, she mentioned that she wanted to join with me. Good for her, and good for us, we have a newly converted believer in the 2nd Amendment.

Intorducing "newbies" is fun!

I just took my neighbors out yesterday. Young couple, in their late twenties. She'd never shot before, him, not since he was a kid. Took a .22 bolt action, AR with .22 conversion (his favorite), a .380 Sig (her favorite) and a 1911 (my favorite).

After a couple hours at the 25 yard line of plinking and mild (don't want to scare them off) instruction, we went to the 50 yard line and cranked off a few mags of .223 in the AR.

They want to do it again. Two more Gunnies!
