I have a unique business and I have been thinking a great deal of my situation. Right now, I have a home-based business that allows me to live anywhere in the country. I have been thinking I may try to live in Oregon for about 7-8 months of the year and in Florida for the other 4-5 months.

My question is in regard to conceal carry. I am a resident of the state of Oregon, but I hold both an Oregon and Washington state conceal carry permit. I was checking out http://www.carryconcealed.net and according to its list my Oregon permit is not honored by Florida, but my Washington state permit is honored by Florida, even if I am a non-resident of Washington.

What I would like to ask people here is if this information is 100% correct? Is there any office, like Sheriff, etc, that I can call in Florida that can confirm if this information is correct? If this information is correct, does that mean I am legally eligible to conceal carry in Florida already, without a Florida permit?

Because, I am a resident of Oregon and as of now I am planning on living in Florida, part of the year, I am not really sure about setting up dual-state residencies. I was thinking it would avoid a lot of hassle if I could just be a resident of one-state , but I don't want to lose my right to carry when I am living in Florida.

I just looked at usacarry.com and it claims Florida does not honor non-resident WA conceal permits. This is conflicting with the information given to me by carryconcealed.net. Well, I suppose for now, I will give the benefit of the doubt to the usacarry.com's statement that it will not be honored. I guess my final question would be then, can I apply for a Florida conceal carry permit if I am an out-of-state or temporary resident?

I would appreciate any information people here can give me on this subject. There is also a chance I may relocate to some other southeastern state instead, so any information about those other states would be welcomed, as well.

I have my answer, I will repost with questions about obtaining an out-of-state Florida CCW.

Mods please delete this thread.. THANKS..

I'll answer it anyway.... Florida does not recognize any non-resident permits, other than their own... they do recognize many resident permits...but if you can't get one from your own state of residence then you need to get a Florida permit.... not really that hard....

I'll add that if you consider relocating, officially, unless the law has changed since I lived in Oregon, you may want to preserve your residency status with Oregon, and get the Florida Permit. If your residency now becomes "Florida", your Oregon permit is no longer valid.
