Is it okay to ask for going cost on an FS2000?

Not sure whether it's appropriate to ask for input on a good price for a firearm or not. Also not sure whether this is the right section to ask....

If it is okay then what should one generally expect to pay for an FS2000?

I can get one for $2,400, not sure whether that's over priced or not.

I've seen them for $2,200 most everywhere. But, I'm aware that gun prices are relative to the regional area one lives in.

That sounds like a little bit on the high side given what they are going for on gunbroker but once you factor in shipping and FFL transfer fees it's not unreasonably expensive. Maybe find some for sale, print them out and see if the dealer will match that price (you could concede an extra $75 or so to cover what transfer and shipping fees would be if bought online) or get him/her to throw in some mags.

Oh yeah you reminded me; the dealer in question doesn't have the rifle in-stock but is ordering it from his wholesaler nonetheless.--So with that in mind, I guess it's probably a more reasonable cost?

You're indeed right about the transfer + shipping. Most dealers in my area want $75 for the transfer, so yes I'd arrive at an additional $100 to the cost of the rifle alone.

I was thinking $2,400 was a little high too. But, don't know what to do.

Try gunbroker.com too to find a FS2000 that's for sale.

Check with your local pawn shops. Lots of them have FFLs and are good about doing transfers. The local pawn I use chages $20 OTD. BSW

Thanks so much for the information, from each of the posters. The input is much appreciated everybody.

Well I think I have a different plan in mind now with all of your advice.

I think I can try to transfer it to a different dealer and shave off quite a bit of money.

Even after the transfer + shipping I'll still be in way below the $2,400 mark that other dealer wants it for, and mainly because it'll drop off about $200 in tax getting it out-of-state.

Only question is; what's the morality on avoiding paying state sales tax?

I think this depends on how you like the dealer. Our cost is just barely under $2K at the place I just checked. 20% markup and no shipping puts it in the $2400 range. If you came in and offered $2200 and paid upfront we would prob. do the deal but some of these prices quoted we could not match with out loosing........

Support the little guys!!!!!!!!!!

My local shop has one for $2495 (rail version)

J&G is selling an Optic version for $2495

Impactguns.com has them from $2100-$2200

Gunbroker.com from around $1500 to $2500+

I would consider any FS2k around $2500 to be pretty average price if you bought one new from a gun shop. For around $2200 I would say you are getting a fair price, for around $2000 a good deal and for around $1800 a great deal.

From what I was told my local shop charges $40 to do an FFL transfer.

Where are you located?
If you're anywhere in central Fl, Tactical Machining in Deland charges $5 for a transfer

Whoah. You're all showing me way-low prices.....

A new, unused FS2000 for quite-a-bit-less than $2,400 is startling to say the least. :)

I think I almost spent way too much money and everyone who responded saved me from doing so.

I'm not too internet savvy (at least when it comes to finding sites for shopping/price comparison) hence I didn't know where to start looking....

Otherwise, yeah, I would have quickly found that $2,200 or more for an FS2000 was REALLY not a good price!

Thanks again! You guys saved me quite a chunk of money, and that's putting it lightly. I stress that I cannot thank you all enough.

I'm concerned about saying you can save $200 buying it out of state. Not the taxes, but I'm of the mind you have to buy through an FFL in your state, no option.

Normally long gun's can be bought out of state, if you do it ftf for instance at a store in WVa. you would still pay that state tax, if it is mail orderd then it seem's to me you would be obligated to pay your state's sales tax. Wether you do or not is up to you.
