Is the Beretta A300 a proven item yet?

I perused the subject via "search" and saw this thread:

Dated January, one poster suggested it needed to be Beta tested before he'd trust it.

I'm looking at the Ultima Patrol A300 for $999. Strictly for home defense but maybe an occasional coyote/hog gun.

It’s got a ton of great features and a good price. Looks like it COULD be an amazing gun.

But I’m in the same boat. I’m not going to be a beta tester for it. It’s got to prove itself. The fact it’s made by Beretta USA is a bit worrisome. From all my experience, they just don’t have the same quality control as the Italian made Berettas.

Issues I know about on the new Ultimak Patrol are the forward barrel band/accesory mount creeps forward under recoil and comes loose when shooting. Not good. Hopefully Beretta addresses this.

I know a couple of people with the sporter version. It's a good gun and I see no reason why the patrol should be any different.

It has been pretty well tested. The A300 is old technology that Beretta has used for years. Newer Beretta's are current generation guns. The A300 is being sold at cheaper prices because it is an older, but functional design. This allows them to sell them at budget prices

I had a A300. I liked it. I liked it so much that when my friend BJ (Bobby Junior) and his wife were over to the house, I showed it to him. He admired it so much I gave it to him. i Liked how it pointed easily And its weight was just about right. I knew he would think the same. Shirt off the back moment.

When I was shooting competitive skeet in the 1990’s, several of the top shooters used Beretta A300’s in the 12 ga event and tubed O/U in the other gauges.

Good on you for giving your buddy a nice gift.

Yeah., This was an excuse to replace it with a Langdon Tactical 1301, wasn't it? Sly devil you....

I have an older A300 bought years ago and it runs great. Only issue is the limited magazine options.

In 2014, I bought a Beretta A400 "Smurf" gun. It still does not have a round fired through it.

At the time, the A300 was a 'standard"shotgun on the skeet field.

I enjoy shooting my over/unders too much at clay games to be willing to stoop and pick up hulls from a semi/auto.

Good, well established gun that has a strong reputation for reliability amongst competitive shooters.

When Beretta moves to an improved design, the prior one lives on in a more affordable guise. When they went to the A400, which was a bit faster cycling and used a more sophisticate gas metering system, the 391 design which had worked so well for the past 20 years or so became the A300, and was made stateside. The different numbers and build facility let them charge a premium for their shiniest new design while offering the tried-and-true 300 for utility and value. My A300 target gun and 391 field guns have given excellent service.
