Is there such a thing as a CZ hater?

I have only had one modern CZ pistol (CZ-40b). I have had a CZ-70 and a CZ-52 but that is not what we are talking about. My CZ-40b was cheap ($299) and it was ergonomic and for the most part, made well. The trigger is poor and I am not picky. It is really bad and I have had plenty of pistols. DA is decent but SA was CREEPY and just plain bad. It was the poster child for bad SA triggers. It was also not very accurate unless you use one specific load. I like to shoot whatever is cheap and around so a one load gun is not good for me.

It was and still is 100% reliable. I sold it to my friend and he loves it! He can't shoot well enough to tell the diference anyway.:neener: It is a good looking and feeling gun and it has features of more expensive guns that impressed me. The coiled piano wire recoil spring was a surprise in an inexpensive gun and the checkered rubber grips felt wonderful. It is by far the most comfortable double stack .40 I have held. The trigger in DA was too long for my finger also so I can't really buy any CZs.:banghead: I don't know why CZ doesn't make a DA trigger that a person with average or short fingers can shoot. I think I have average hands but my fingers must be short. I don't have this problem with my Beretta 92fs or any of my other DA autos so I am lost.

CZ DA triggers CAN be a problem from some hands, but a number of the models can be carried "cocked and locked," and that negates the need for a LONG DA trigger.

Your 40B is easily carried and shot from C&L...

Remember, we're only talking about the first shot, anyway. After that, its the equivalent of C&L (in terms of trigger pull.)

Each time I called CZUSA and spoke to "Mike" he pulled serious attitude. I was always polite, but the guy must have been off his meds because he was as surly as a teen working a Friday night at McDonald's.

Sorry to hear you had problems with your CZs; I thought I was the only one that had an issue with "Mike the CZ Guy"; this one was over mag springs. I got my CZ 75B .40S&W fixed by my gunsmith, and new Wolff recoil and mag springs. I like CZs, but if you have a problem with one, I think you need to send it to a good gunsmith, since I think that Mike guy can give you some grief.

On CZ's DA trigger being hard to reach:

My wife has a heck of a time with the DA trigger on my 75B but no on my P-01. CZ has a newly recurved trigger that helps out with the reach problem by alot. Here is a comparison between the two.

And about Mike:
Mike apparently isn't quite the people person but I have feeling you'll be hard pressed to find someone as knowledgeable with CZ's as he is. I have talked to him a few times and he seems like a decent guy just not a people person.

I just bought my first CZ (a CZ 75 SA), and it is without a doubt my new favorite range/all-purpose handgun. The grip angle is very natural, the 9mm is a soft shooter, and the controls are simple and easy to manipulate. I have only put 150 rounds through it thus far, but it easily eclipses anything I have used previously (Beretta, Sig, Glock, HK, S.A. XD, Ruger, S&W, etc.; but, maybe I'm just missing something ;)). I first fired this gun right after a range session with my HK USP9, and there was simply no comparison; the CZ was far superior to the HK (but maybe that's just me). I'm going to try using this gun for IDPA or USPSA whenever a match presents itself, and I can't wait for the opportunity.

I decided to "upgrade" from my CZ-75 to a HK P7M8. In a little over a year, my wife and I went through four M8's, ranging from brand new production to a LNIB older gun to well broken in models. After the novelty wore off, I wound up selling them all when I realized that no matter how much I practiced with the M8, I still shot my CZ better and there was nothing the HK could do for me that the CZ couldn't also do. Thank goodness I didn't sell the CZ's.

Heck, what really upset me was that I found I could shoot my $150 Makarov better then a $1000 P7 at 25 yards!

The CZ might not be for everybody, but it works for me. The only gun that fits my hand better is the Hi-Power, but my CZ's are much more "shootable" than the single Hi Power in my collection.

I have a CZ-75B, CZ-75 PCR (compact alloy model) a 97B and the .22 Kadet Kit conversion for the 75 models. All have been perfect out of the box. The PCR is just a sweet little 9MM and my favorite of the bunch. They are all accurate, reliable and well made. I know all gunmakers make lemons sometimres, but I sure haven't had a CZ that wasn't excellent, out of the box, with no mods or work. And the triggers are all good and get better with use. Just my experience.

Every other brand out there has a following of people ready to bash it, yet I don't think I have ever heard anybody bash a CZ. Have I been blind or are they out there? I love my CZ-75B and one of the reasons I bought it was the universal praise it received. But I like to hear the bad thoughts too? Are there any?

I'm not a hater, but my CZ 85 Combat proved a big disappointment after the hype it received here and elsewhere. It works fine, but accuracy is mediocre, and I like accurate pistols. The DA pull is long and had a lot of creep - the trigger mechanism seems complex. I had a trigger job and muzzle recrown to try and improve it, to little avail. The interior finish is exremely rough - it would be unacceptable in any Capitalist-made firearm. There are few options for holsters, nught sights, etc. The one published test I've seen showed it to be a little less accurate than a Beretta 92, not usually mentioned in the panoply of great out-of-the-box shooters. I do like the grip size and feel after putting Houges on it to replace the OEM wood grips.

It's very interesting because here and CZforum, CZ's are wonderful, as accurate as SIG's, etc. At one of the gun clubs I belong to, in contrast, the words CZ bring out one word: "they're cheap." I think for most people S&W or Ruger represent a better value.

Of course, because I do not rate my CZ over my SIG P220 (duh) or S&W 3913, there are people here and elsewhere who accuse me of being biased. They send me Private Messages, or post messages like "Gee, if you're so unhappy, why don't you sell it to me," for about $300. I keep it in the safe and use it as a range plinker, for which it is well suited. Sorry, but I don't get emotionally involved with firearms: the better the function, the more effective tool it is.

Shoot one yourself and decide if it works for you. Don't believe the emotional statements of anyone about any firearm.

My CZ75B was a superb pistol: great ergonomics, smooth trigger once broken in, very well made. But dammit, I couldn't hit a Greyhound bus from the inside with the thing. Just not right for my hands.

Unfortunately for my kid's college education, I just shoot Sigs better than anything else.

VG,

Didn't you try selling you CZ at one point. IIRC you had it sold and thn you backed out. Maybe you just don't want to admit that you like the gun so much? :D

I have had a CZ75 Compact, and it was very very good - sold for baby food, under extreme protest. I would have any CZ again in a heart beat.
Shep854, you Springfield was actually a Tanfolgio, sold nowadays under EAA Witness. The main differance was the Springfields had the firing pin safety removed. I have carried a Tanfoglio for 12/13 years, and love it.
If anyone was complaing about CZ grips, they should visit either http://www.imageseek.com/hakan/ or http://www.czgrips.us/ , and great custom holsters found at http://www.imageseek.com/hbeleather/ .
CZ/Witness - best buy.

Most sellers "back out" when money is not forthcoming. I shooti it once or twice a year, as I like the 3913 a lot better I may dump it at some point.

That is good news. I really like the looks and feel of the PCR and P-01, maybe I will check one out soon.:)
