New York has way too many. I can understand NYC maybe, but the rest are inexcusable and must be kicked off the ballot in the primaries which are three weeks away.

This is what there mission statement says:

"Message from the Co-Chairs
As mayors, our highest responsibility is to enforce the law and to protect the people we serve. One of the most difficult challenges we face in meeting this responsibility is preventing criminals from illegally obtaining guns and preventing those who do get them from using them. The issue of illegal guns is not conservative or liberal; it is an issue of law and order -- and life or death."

But when you scratch that thin but shiny, political veneer, you quickly realize their real agenda is control and regulation of legal guns and gun owners.

BTW, I am a Mayor, but not one of the two listed for OR.

I expected to see Kansas on that list. I predicted one correctly and two that I thought were going to be on the list were not. Kansas City was to be expected: My other two choices were Junction City, and Wichita due to them being not very gun friendly. Can't say I know the others, but Lansing has that big prison, and you'd just think the mayor of that town would know better.

Dave Munson, mayor of Sioux Falls, SD WAS a member of this group until recently. He was contacted by Senator Thune when the rumor was circulating that Munson opposed the "nationwide concealed carry" bill Thune was advocating. Whatever the exchange was between them, it brought about results. Afterwards, Munson said he supported Thune's bill, and appearently renounced his membership (or had it revoked??) to Mayors against Illegal Guns. I was relieved to hear this, as he was the sole member of the group in the entire state of South Dakota, a very pro-gun state. Previously, I even submitted requests to local media to cover Munson's membership in this group, as it seemed very odd that a SD mayor would join such a group. My requests were ignored, but appearently Senator Thune's conversation accomplished what I saw as mmy ultimate goal.... keeping this group OUT of SD ENTIRELY

Not my mayor (I don't have one being in the country), but nearby, Jerry Abramson, Mayor for Life of Louisville, KY, is a complete uber liberal joke.

Aside from his stance on firearms, his main goal in political life seems to be spending Louisville rich. (For you northerners who didn't follow that, spending yourself rich means, aw heck. Just look at what Obama, Botox Queen, and Desert Tortoise Reid are doing to the nation.)

There are three in Missouri. St. Louis' Francis Slay, Creve Coeur MO and Kansas City MO. I'm going to focus on Creve Coeur and St. Louis. Francis Slay especially, as he's the longest sitting mayor in the city's history. Time for him to go for a variety of reasons.

Yer showing yer age. I haven't heard spending rich in a long time.

I'm sure the mayor of Moscow has secret phone calls to the group, but would never admit it in public.

Not Mine (Indpls)

I am surprised so many small town Indiana mayors are on there.

But the Mayor of Indianapolis, Greg Ballard-R, retired USMC Lt Col, is not.

Feel free to use this, but read closely to see what you need to change.

Mayor Johnson,

I am not in favor of your support of "Mayors Against Illegal Guns." This group has a deceptive name and a hidden agenda, and I didn't think that was your style. You claim to support civil liberties and stand for the little guy, but gun control is unconstitutional, anti-civil-liberties, and only punishes the little guy.

One of the main platforms of Mayors Against Illegal Guns is the abolishing of Concealed Carry laws. Shall-issue Concealed Carry laws have ushered in lower crime rates, or - even in the eyes of the most skeptical statistician - have not raised crime rates one iota in any state in which they have been introduced.

Of course you are against illegal guns. You are against criminals having guns. But passing new laws does nothing to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, because criminals steal guns. Criminals even steal guns from police officers. All that gun confiscation/deprivation does is prevent people like me, a young man with a clean record, from protecting himself and his family.

You're against illegal guns. But are you against me, a law abiding citizen, having a gun? If so, I can not vote for you and I will attempt to vote you out of office and spread the word that, to you, image is more important than substance.

Image or substance. Your choice. Do the right thing.

Sincerely,

HHmmm........my daughter lives in Austin. Guess she will have to come to see me, because I will not go there without my 45's. :cuss:

The right to bear arms was hotly discussed at my last mens club meeting that I attended. The people that voiced their opinion were both none gun owners, pro gun and many have their CCP. If the Obamanation attempts to remove the right to bear arms they are prepared to organize and participate in demonstrations. The club has a world wide membership, as of August 25, 2009, of 1,544,138 members and growing by the day. I do believe the entire membership would support pro gun demonstrations.

chuck...why not start a new thread since this seems like an interesting topic for discussion? I'd be interested to hear more.

My mayor (Buddy Dyer in Orlando) is on there of course. I'm all for taking guns out of the hands of criminals, but leave my legally bought and paid for firearms alone!!!

Of course the mayors of Minneapolis and Saint Paul (Comrade Rybak and Commandant Coleman, respectively) are both on the list.
