ITHACA 37 Deer Slayer

I'm reassembling my Ithaca 37. The problem I've run into is where should the longer leg of the slide stop release spring go ?, does it rest on top of the rear portion of the slide stop. Also my hammer bar likes to fall off the face of the mainspring cup after I pull the trigger. The gun is old and well used.
