I inherited this old shotgun, and was wondering what shell length its chambered for, because I don’t see it stamped anywhere on the gun. Also, any idea of date of manufacture? Thanks for the help.
CHAMPION SINGLE BARREL----------------------------1923-1978 One letter suffix= 1920-1929
This is the same gun as the earlier Model 36 champion except that the smaller gauges are now built on the same frame as the large gagues. See above picture for specifications. The exact year production stopped has not yet been determined. Some of these single barrel shotguns have been seen with Canadian marking, these were most likely shipped to Canada and then marked as there is no evidence that Iver Johnson’s Arms & Cycle Works ever had a manufacturing factory in Canada
If I see a old shotgun without markings for shell length I always go with the original(shorter) length because there was no 3" mag shells then. When the 3" came out they stamped the barrels so you would know. jmo
Yep...2.5". Grew up shooting an old Iver Johnson 410. Killed my first rabbit, squirrel and quail with it and 100s more following the initial kill. Great fun!
