IWB holster suggestions

If you're like me, I wear shirts tucked.
Here is my favorite holster....Desantis Sof Tuk.
I have them for my sp101, SR1911CMD, and my lcp.

Thin suede is comfortable and grippy. The j-hook is secure over my pants and the tip of the j hooks under your belt.
Secure, inexpensive, and comfortable.
I suggest you try it... I like it. 1576541941598284098732548864089.jpg 15765419651407853251448812483679.jpg

I believe this same size fits your 238 also.

Check out N8 Tactical. Great for my 1911, so a .380 should be a snap..

Check out Sticky Holsters. I have one for all my pistols from little .380s to hefty full size 1911s. Most comfortable ever for me. I have drawer full of other holsters that never get used. Not everyone likes them.
I also like my Brave Response belly band holster.

I only have two makes/models of IWB holsters. One is leather like you're asking about and the other is Kydex. I like and recommend both.

My first IWB holsters are leather Milt Sparks Summer Special II's. Excellent holsters. Most other good holster makers make copies of them.

My latest IWB holsters are Vedder LightTuck Kydex holsters. Also excellent holsters. So far I don't know of anyone else making a version of this one.

I find both holsters to be comfortable.

The Sparks are a bit pricey(>$100) and take a while to receive once ordered.

The Vedder is only a week or two lead time to your door and well less than $100. I bought my first Vedder to have a holster while waiting on a Sparks to arrive. I liked it so much I never ordered the Sparks.

Ive carried in the same crossbreed supertuck for years. Still my favorite. I've tried others but didn't care for them. Always have a fault Too stiff, bad clips. Bad retention etc.

Like Armored farmer I like the DeSantis SOF-TUCK IWB holsters for my pocket size guns. Relatively inexpensive, very supportive, and comfortable to wear they work very well with both semi-autos and revolvers.

This is the one for my P238/Colt Mustang:

Milt Sparks really is #1 in my book. They are better quality than anything I've tried. Having said that, though, the Summer Special is not very comfortable for me. For IWB I prefer the supertuck style. I buy most of mine from Tucker Gunleather - the "Texas Heritage" is well made, comfortable, and usually available without significant wait.

I'm the same. The weight being spread and the wider back is my choice. I ordered my supertuck back when you ordered and waited a month. They were actually semi custom back then. Is it a holster you will show off.... nope. My summer special 2 is a nicer holster by a mile. I just prefer my supertuck. If I ever find some j hooks that don't destroy my beltman belts to put on it I'll call it good..... for a little while. No idea if the supertuck is the same now as it was 15 years ago.

The last iwb I bought was a desantis invader this black friday..... Not good. Not good at all

I once went out of my way to get a BBQ gun engraved and nickeled and ivory gripped. The whole catastrophe took several years and more money than I care to recall. Almost as an afterthought I had Milt Sparks make up a plain holster to highlight the gun. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I first wore the gun and everyone wanted to know about the holster.

What kind of Tucker fan calls it the "supertuck style".;)

The Tucker Answer ( https://tuckergunleather.com/the-answer-holster/ ) originated the kydex/leather hybrid IWB holster that has been copied by dozens of makers over the years.

I used to be a big IWB carrier, until I found that if you spend the money on a GOOD belt holster, it hides just about as well, and isn't as uncomfortable as I've found IWB holsters to be. I do, however, still use them... and one of the keys is to reduce bulk. The most minimalist holster I've found is the Galco Inside the Belt holster, I have 2 of them, one I cut the thumbsnap off. I also have a newer version of it... it has a reinforced top so you can reholster without going through gyrations, it does not have a retention strap.

I also have an Alessi open top, reinforced IWB holster as well... I like it a lot but it is rigid and somewhat bulky because of how they integrated the clip into the holster... it makes it a bit wide.

I have about 4 of the 'tuckable' holsters... I have found them to be pretty comfortable, just incredibly bulky, and they pretty much gather dust on the top shelf.

This post led me to the Tucker Gun Leather site to learn about the Answer. When I asked when they would have a model for my M&P 2.0, Rob called me same day to talk about their models. The Deep Carry (DC-1) is their much improved version, which is available for my M&P 2.0, although they do still sell the Answer. It comes with all the options, can be used IWB or OWB, and has improved construction. The shell (leather-lined, of course) is a newer synthetic than Kydex. Rob is a most personable guy, and a good salesman. My DC-1 should arrive in a couple of weeks.

Tucker adjustable report.
Above I noted that this thread led me to Tucker Gun Leather. the DC-1 is a fully adjustable (IWB or OWB) newer design, a follow-on to the Answer IWB (although they still sell the Answer).
Saturday I spent a day at a tactical self-defense CC course. Kept having trouble getting a clean grip on the gun before drawing. Once back home I watched this Tucker video on Buried Carry. I realized that the holster had been just a bit too deep. While the entire grip was above the belt line, it was too close to the top of the jeans to get three fingers around it. I moved both belt clips to raise it and set it again. Sent the pics to Rob at Tucker for his use. Rob wrote back suggesting I change the cant more forward as FBI recommends. Now much easier to get a solid grip before drawing from the holster. Here are the pics.

Good points.

Lots of folks seem to like deep riding IWB holsters. It doesn't really help concealment, and it makes getting a full firing grip more difficult.

As you noticed, raising the holster and increasing the cant improved your ability to get a full firing grip on your pistol.

I've been using a Raw Dog Tactical holster for several years now. For me, it's the best balance of cost, retention, and comfort. I like hybrid holsters (owned 2 others) but with all the prohibited places here in Illinois I wanted a single clip for ease of putting on and taking off. It is the best of both worlds for me, and inexpensive to boot.
