Jams and FTL's in Taurus PT92--what to do?

I believe the PT92/99/100/101 (all Beretta based designs) to be the best of the Taurus guns. The PT22 is loosely based on one of the smaller Beretta designs, I can't remember which. It seems that these little ones aren't up to the quality of their big brothers. This is not the first post I've seen complaining abou the PT22s and 25s.

With regards to the 1911s, I haven't seen anything definitive yet, but they appear to be serviceable.

Cleaning and lubricating a pistol is important to its functioning, but you also have to watch about lubricating it too much. Many lubes are sticky and sticky attracts grit. I have a .22 Jennings that is superbly reliable for, oh, the first four or five mags, then I begin getting jams. If I spend two minutes cleaning it, it becomes reliable again until it becomes gritty again.

A good dry lubricant is Militec-1, which is designed for military use in places with sand and grit. Once soldiers begin using paste lubes or oily CLPs (such as BreakFree), grit can begin to collect on the parts that are interacting. BreakFree is great for overall maintenance and storage, but for lubrication, it's best used sparingly.

For a good deal on mags, I recommend CDNN Investments. Get on their mailing list. Every now and again they have sales where shipping is FREE if you buy $100 worth. In some makes, they have quality mags that go up to 20+ rounds. Take a look at this one, for example. Or this 20-round. They even have this cheap 30-round mag, but I don't know anything about it and doubt, for that price, that it's any good.

Remember, only a dab will do ya on the lubrication!
