Did anyone catch the part when Peggy Hill walks into the shoe store for women with large feet, as she's walking by, there's a somewhat subtle autographed picture of Janet Reno on the wall?

:D

Yeah despite trying to appear like a stereotypical Texas small town, the folks in Arlen do come across as liberals in a subtle way.

Notice how Dale Gribble and his "gun" friends at the club are portrayed.

Or their seemingly endless love of former governor "Ma" Richards.

I think you are reading too much into KOTH being liberal. Remember the episode where Bobby and Hank entered the shooting competition? Hank is not a good shooter and hates to admit it. Peggy embarassed at Hank says "Hank, guns are what keeps this family together."

In another episode Cotton (Hanks dad) teaches his newborn son to shoot a gun. It's funny in that context.

Also Cotton gets Bobby a Winchester 20ga shotgun for his birthday on one of the earlier episodes.

Yeah they have some digs at guns, like they dig at EVERYTHING, but I don't think it's in an anti-gun way.

Also, Mike Judge and Greg Daniels created KOTH. Judge created Beavis and Butthead, Daniels worked on the Simpsons.

Oh I dunno...Peggy Hill may not be so bad. After all, she's twice the man Dale Gribble's dad "Bug" is... :p

And yes, I personally feel that this particular thread is relevant to many weighty issues, both legal AND political. :uhoh:

I saw it more of a subtle jab at Reno, but that's just me.

I know KOTH paints Gribble as a loon but for the most part most gun owners I suspect are more like Hank Hill--they have a few around and grew up with them but guns aren't their religion (like some of us :D).

I don't like Peggy but I can't stand Luann or Bill.

The episode where Dale sold guns in the back of Peggy's bookstore was the best one! Dale is a thinker, they were just buying an expensive book and getting a free gun with it.

I suspect y'all don't like Peggy because she's the smartest one on the show. :) I think the thing about Janet Reno was a play on mannish women and Peggy's big feet. I've been called "mannish," among other things, but thankfully not by my husband. :)

I think the show's creator is doing a pretty even-handed job of trying to stay in the middle and counter each move right with a left--he's a moderate, as am I. And no, I ain't no dead armadillo in the middle of the road--hate it when that old saw is hauled out to try to bully us moderates into going right or left!
