Dave McCracken, et als:

Bought my boy a 20 ga 870 Exp a few yrs ago so familiar with that'un!
Now I'm in the market for an HD/AP shotty. Does a Mossy tear down as easily as an 870? Where can I get a metal safety and how hard is it to change?? I did read here that the plastic breaks, right?
Saw an Ithaca 37, well worn in a shop the other day. Comments?!!??

Agree with other post-cruiser ready, if in cruiser. At home (no kids) will keep full mag tube w/ shot, 00, #4 buck? Cruiser ready has advantage of being able to drop load-of-choice into chamber as conditions dictate; HD not gonna change! All I wanna do is fill the hallway!

Stay safe!
Bob

The Ithaca 37's a very good shotgun. The shorter barreled versions are terrific HD tools. As always, expertise is the key.

The 500 does not tear down quite as easily as the 870, but it requires no rocket science,IIRC. Been a couple decades since I did.

Dunno about the safety, but I believe it's not hard to replace.

The metal safety can be found at Brownells.

As regards the choice for HD (OO or #4), there's tons (!!) of discussion on this subject here. Just use your search key. :)
