I have a friend on the internet who wants to carry a Jennings J-22 for self defense when he is 17 or 18.I told him why he would want that peice of junk to carry for self defense when it has a very bad reputation for breaking and not being a good shooter.I also told him .22 LR is not that good of a round for self defense I told him he is better off with a CZ-52 what he wants too so badly but even that is not so good I told him why cant he spend his money on a S&W revolver,Taurus revolver,Ruger revolver,or at least a good Rossi revolver instead of wasting his money and betting his life with a peice of junk Jennings.I told him a .38 special revolver is so much better as a self defense caliber and gun and worth the value over a flimsy .22LR pistol such as the Jennings.I told him he can buy it if he wants but I would not recommend it for self-defense only for plinking and nothing more.
Do you think I did the right thing in how I explained to him not to buy a Jennings .22LR for self defense?
