Welcome to the Revolver Club; the more the merrier! Most of my early gun acquisitions were wheelguns: a Charter Arms Undercover, a Hawes Deputy Marshall, a Ruger Single Six, and a Ruger Super Blackhawk. Never owned a Taurus revolver being mainly a Colt, S&W, and Ruger fan but the Taurus Model 66 was definitely one of their better efforts. Enjoy your new found treasure and trust we'll being seeing more of you on the Revolver Forum!

Speedloader I found puzzling at first. I was expecting that one would shove it in all the way flush like an autoloader magazine. I was familiarizing myself with it (using snap caps in the house) & discovered that the rounds only go halfway in before it bottoms out. So I studied the thing a bit & found out that yes, that's how it works.

None of the instructional tidbits I looked at on how to load with a speedloader mention this nor do the pictures show that.

The SA trigger is... SCARY. I tried it out a few times and I barely touched it and BANG! Is it really that light? Maybe it's just me; I don't think the trigger on my Ruger P89 is that heavy, just a really long reach.

Lot's of fun.

Between this and my beat up old Hy-Hunter .22 cowboy gun, I really wish I had a lot more than 2 acres. There would be a construction project on the drawing board....

The advantage DA/SA revolver. Yes, the SA of a good revolver can be almost a "hair trigger". Friend of mine fired my 629 (.44mag) SA and was grinning ear to ear. He said that he thought that was a better trigger pull than any of his rifles.

ENJOY.

Bought a Taurus model 82, then got a Uberti/Beretta SA Bird's Head and Ruger Wrangler. Sons have a Ruger GP100, a S&W 686/7 and Uberti Cattleman in 45LC..I get to shoot those.
Things I like about revolvers is, you don't spend all day reloading magazines and a certain amount of ammo lasts longer..GREAT fun..

Welcome to the wonderful world of wheelguns. My first a S&W Model 27...now I seem to have quite a few more. As posted above, hand loading will wring the most out of your Taurus.
