Just bought a new Mossberg Mav88 Sec. 20" 7+1 FDE
Paid $204.99 new. Love it! I've owned the 18.5" 5+1 and really wanted this model when first saw it.
Sold my former and finally brought this one home.
    ME HAPPY

Great choice and congrats on the new shotgun! I have had a basic Maverick 88 for home defense and it's been a reliable performer for all these many years.

I bought the same Maverick in black about 4 months back used price of $170. Slowly making it into a "me" gun. Had to deburr the shell stop, replace the magazine spring, cut a few inches off the length of pull, new butt stock pad, swivel studs, and a light mount. Left to do are FO sights, drill and tap/bolt on rail, and a light setup. It is a good, no nonsense 12ga. The only thing I am still getting used to is the plastic trigger housing.

Awesome! I had one back in the days and sold it. For the price, I couldn't pass up making up for my mistake. Of course my wife was like "I told you so!!!". Because I never should have sold my other one.

If recoil becomes a problem I see where Pachmayr has come out with a new recoil reducing pad called the Shock Shield. It's filled with a pocket of soft gel and slips right over the buttstock, sort of a one size fits all design. Lyman has it for $19.98

I picked up the 18.5" model in FDE. A word of caution, certain gun cleaners will damage the FDE.....I found out the hard way.

One of the best deals out there. I do not own one, have the 500 20ga flex with a 18" barrel and hunting barrel., but know so many that do own them and just a nice reliable simple gun.

Very nice. I currently do not own any shotguns but thus is what I want to get as my HD shotgun.

I really like it with the FDE furniture!
