This is a follow-up to my earlier thread. I'd ordered a RWS 34 Panther recently, and had it sold to my brother before it even arrived and had upgraded to a Beeman R9 Goldfinger (which arrives tomorrow).
Anyway, had i known what a bad-ass unit this 34 was, i likely would have kept it, and ordered another for my brother and made HIM wait !!!!
As i understand, these spring cockers take about a thousand rounds just to break in, but we were hitting everything we aimed at,at NIGHT, while sipping rum and cokes !!! These things are a BLAST !! Next day, my brother calls me and says he's mounted a powerline scope on it, has it dialed in, and i need to get my behind over there. ( since i was going over anyway, and he was grilling, i sprang forth ). He had strung some "targets", various containers,up at the trail entrance to the woods behind his house. I made the first hit on a steel can of Pledge furniture polish, de-pressurizing and spewing all over, and passing through both sides from almost FIFTY YARDS !!! It wasn't even a solid, direct hit, it was at an angle, at the far left edge.It wasn't long before we had almost cut this can in half !!
Anyway, long-story-short, this latest pellet rifle technology is pretty cool !! We'e not talking the "BB guns" we all grew up with. These things are REAL GUNS !! Don't dismiss them. If you want to have fun, shoot and practice CHEAP, and have what'll likely be the very last thing confiscated, check into these.

arrrgh. . . . . .

another one bit by the pneumatic rifle bug ( grin ). Yes, they are way too fun to shoot compared to my old Daisy Red Ryder.
Whatever you do - avoid the Barnes Pneumatic website. I say again - do NOT ever go to that website. You have been warned.

Both the R9 and the RWS34 are excellent air rifles. You managed to order two of the best springers for the money out there. If you had gone over to the yellow forum and asked what the ideal entry level spring gun for hunting would be you probably would have had half of them telling you to get an RWS34 and the other half telling you to save up some more money and get an R9.

I know what you mean, i picked up a chinese copy pistol, with a 7 inch bbl, and then a copy of the ww2 walther trainer with the 6 inch bbl, and they totally rock. I even picked up a very few of a kind snap on tools-Dale Earnhardt model rifle, and I carry that around in my car at all times, just in case some random target out in the boonies needs popping...

Welcome to the club!

There are LOTS of folks that will say things like "You payed that much for a BB GUN?"

Ignore those people, for they know not of which they speak.

Just last weekend, I pulled out my Beeman and spent some really fun time doing pretty much the same thing you were.

No, it's not a toy. It's beautifully made, offers serious power, and serious accuracy.

Enjoy shooting your new rifle! It will provide years of some of the best shooting you will do!

That's for sure !! But so far, everyone that has shot it has been very surprised and impressed, and one freind sounds like he may get one, too.
Anyway, it looks like i've managed to successfully whine out of work today !! My brother is off, too, and headed to the super-wal-mart ( that's almost redundant ) for cheeseburger fixin's and has been hanging new targets, plus there's this lone squirrel taunting us that for obvious reasons,we've named "lucky".
Now i gots to head into town and fetch me my new "BB gun" !

:(:(:( Unnaceptable behavior for THR and should be deleted- that is definately NOT the behavior we need to promote... those airguns are real guns and NOT TOYS!

Now back to the spirit of the thread. I have been into adult airguns since the 70's I still have my first and a "FEW" others ;) from pump .177 to Precharged .50 cal capable of harvesting deer n pig etc. From .20.00 to over a grand... I love my .177 springers. They are great practice ,pest control and serious training target shooting.

If ya can cut the booze n shootin thing they are great!
