Suppose that you return to your place of work on Monday morning. Your boss, knowing that you are a "gun nut", comes to your desk with a gift-wrapped box in his hand. He tells you that you have been doing a fantastic job and that he thinks you should be rewarded for your commitment and dedication to the company. He shakes your hand, reaffirms his appreciation of your work ethic, hands you the box, and heads back toward his office.

As you hold the box, feeling that it is about the size and weight of a handgun, are you hoping that you have just been given a Hi Point .45, or would you be more pleased with a Sig Sauer P220? ;) OK, OK, I just had to give you a chuckle to start off the New Year! But don't forget to watch for your boss to greet you on Monday morning! Maybe something good is about to come your way! :D

My old boss was vehemently anti gun. He came in one morning and asked me to come into the office while he was pulling the blinds (indicative of a butt chewing which was not to be interrupted). I came in unaware of any problems and he held up a single spent .22 caliber casing which was several years old based on the discoloration and dirt. We worked in a rural area which had been hunted until recently. He asked if the case was mine and honestly at the time I had no .22s. He still wrote me up because he believed I had brought a forbidden item onto the premises. So if the boss gave me a Hi Point I would be happy since they at least weren't a jerk that freaked over a ten year old SPENT.22 case. Thanks for reminding me of that guy BTW. :cuss::fire::cuss:

My place of employment - per the handbook - is anti weapon on premises so this is just a fantasy but if my boss or anyone gifted me a firearm I would never reject it. These days I wish I had never sold off any I ever had because there is a place to fit them into the line up somewhere.

That said, Monday morning give me a decent 1911 or SA DA revolver..... :)

My work place is very anti gun.
Big sign as you walk in, no fire arms allowed. I asked one time if a disgruntled employee pulled a gun who would protect us. I was told that the police would.
My response was but I can't have my phone on me so who would call. They told me to stop talking.
But to what the OP asked, I would be happy with any firearm that was given to me (hoping for a Colt python with a 4 inch barrel) and I would give my boss a big kiss right on the mouth. And say thank you.

In most corporations if is non-security and found with handgun on company premises they will be fired the same day.

Thank goodness for small businesses

That said, a friend, who is a asphalt contractor, pays by the day, doesn't really offer a retirement or much in the way of benefits (he could but his guys would rather have the money, as he is mostly seasonal)

But he does throw a hell of a kegger (and you might just run in the mayors assistant or the city head of contracting)
And loans out his cabin, and even takes the guy out for a friday morning at the range, if the finish the contract early.

I work from home and live in TN, we are an open carry State.

The Mother Ship is in IL, the couple of people I confide in about firearms really don't get it, since they are in the Peoples Republic of the Daly Machine.

Some of them did grow up hunting in Indiana, which is their saving grace, but they are the exception. They really don't know what they would do in various self defense scenarios with the exception of 911, and we all know when seconds count.....
