Kahr M-1 carbine

Went to the gun show at Rochester NY today and left with a brand new,in the box Kahr M-1 carbine.

I am a huge fan of that carbine and its the one long gun that I can shoot into my fragile old age [ getting closer ].

I know and have read ALL the shortcomings of the round,and still believe that with decent rounds [ soft point & DPX ] its more than capable of handling any 'social' issue that a carbine can be called on to perform.

I have taken many woodchuck with them and I am confident in its ability to take small game and fur bearing critters,even up to white tail deer [ if I felt the need ].

I have seen it take hogs ,that is one tough critter and a good test of that round.

I so look forward to T&E ing this very smart looking and seemingly well made carbine.

Good for you. Round is great for what you want. Deer have been killed with much less and humanly. Never give that much to a groundhog, but would like to.

Nice rifle..

I have one of those Universal carbines that the purist bad mouth but it is an early one that has been 100 percent reliable. Enjoy your new rifle.....chris3

I can't say that I have heard anything really bad about them. I'm a little surprised that they went with type 1 features given that there are improved types. They appear to be made very well.

I forgot to add that I am a fan of the M-1 and therefore somewhat familiar with them [ NOT an expert by any means ] and this is a very well finished and clean representation of the M-1 carbine.

The fit is very nice,and at the same show there were a few U.S.military old timer M-1's,and they were asking at the low end = 1000.00.

At the high end 1600 + for guns that had been well used.

I got mine for 750.00 + tx.

The only one I had seen prior was over 1000.00 and it was sold already.

Proud to own a SHOOTER,that I fully expect to last me MUCH more than my lifetime
And I own a Kahk PM 40 that gave me a bit of trouble,Kahr bent over backwards to please me and it was sent AND returned on their dime .

So if there should be any glitches with this carbine,I see no problem getting Kahr to adjust matters in my favor.

Hornady has a Critical Defense JHP FTX load out now which looks like a good SD load for the carbine. I picked up a box to try, but have not tried it yet.
My carbine is a 6 digit Inland. I was lucky to get it from the CMP when they had them for $450.
While I have a good supply of GI 15rd mags (again, courtesy of the CMP), I have also found the Korean mags to work well.

I just saw an ad in the Austin Texas newspaper for an M1 in good condition with case and 50 rounds for $400....wonder how long that lasted on the market,

There is very little in the US that has not been in the past routinely killed with the 32-20 and the M1 is bit more powerful. Place your shots well and that M1 Carbine will do fine.

I've always wanted an M1 carbine. Wish I would have bought one from the CMP when they were reasonable.

I took my first whitetail decades ago with an old Winchester M1 Carbine.

Have since passed that Carbine down to my son, whom has passed it down to his. (We were reloading 30Carbine back then, and still do.

I picked up an Iver Johnson M1 Carbine sporting a Ramline synthetic stock yrs ago, and have used it to take a few deer and several hogs with over the years.

Fun guns for shooting, and are extremely handy in the brush.

How much did the Kahr cost you?

Poted that,I thought ?.

Thought I posted that,but it was 749 + tax.

Saw them SOLD OUT at 1000.00 on the web .

And I had a standing order from a LGS,he stated that they were just not found at all.

I am in NYS and this is one of the few 'semi rifles' that has a detached mag AND is not on the "must register" list.

To be on that list,the rifle has to be semi auto AND have a detachable AND one of more of the following = bayonet lug,pistol grip,collapsable stock,vertical forgrip,.

And of course no more than a 10 round mag,but for hunting it HAS to be a 5 round mag.Lucily I have one around from a rifle that I sold .

Where was the show at? I drove 125 miles to attend the show, and found the Domes Center where it has always been held closed.

Its been at the new site for the 2 nd year,Off the 490 at a LARGE arena that was called the Kodak center.

MUCH larger than the old Dome arena [ they drive trucks in ,up the aisle for the show ].

MUCH more security that is off duty LEO's and I felt they had a real handle on any possible breach of security ---- should it be a concern.

Google "gun shows Rochester NY" and I bet it comes up.

btw = I drove 90 + miles from Niagara county.

I used to have the AUto Ordnance M1 carbine which is now Kahr owned. It wasa good gun. I bought it for my 10 year old girl but she has now upgraded to an M$ which I traded the M1 Carbine for.

My only gripes about the gun were that the sights were not adjustable for windage where mine shot 2 " to the left consistently. Also, after shooting 1 magazine, the top forend cover would always pop out. A good duct tape took care of that.
