That's unfortunate. I've had excellent results with our KTs and they've also had hundreds of rounds through each.
While the Ruger LCP was seemingly an improvement over the P3AT it seemed to be derived from, the Ruger wasn't exactly problem-free:

(Ruger had problems, and they had a fairly well-developed gun as a starting point...)
Might I suggest T-R-A or Tap-Rack-Assess rather than T-R-B (Tap-Rack-Bang). Keep in mind that if the bad person changes their mind and stops the attack between Tap-Rack and Bang you could be charged with a crime. Well, assuming it actually went Bang. Sorry, don't want to see any newbies develop training scars.my wife's P32 would jam after each shot to the point where a T-R-B would not have fixed it.
