Which would you all buy next, a Kimber Custom II base model or a XDm .40? Just thinking about waht my next purchase will be around August. Thanks.

Edit:
I currently have an XD sub-compact in .40. I like .40 for velocity and capacity.
However, I do not like the mushy trigger it has, my Beretta has a nice clean break at about 4 pounds. The XDm seems to have corrected the trigger problem, but 1911's are known to have that nice crisp trigger. The reason I am thinking Kimber is because the are one of the best 1911's for the money.

I considered EA (I know some don't consider them true 1911) but the warranty and customer service are a turn off there. Also considered Para, but Kimber's reputation is better and again, seems like more for the money. I handled an RIA and just hated it, so they are out.

The main use would be range and HD. Maybe CC if a 1911 in the winter. Thanks

If those are the only 2 you are considering I am a big 1911 fan.
More important would be what are you going to use the pistol for.
That would help people to give more opinions.

both are good guns, but on the opposite ends of the spectrum.. both give accuracy and dependability good companies backing them, major differences come in the triggers and capacities.. depends on what you want...

Have you considered a SIG 229 .40? I like it better than either of the two pistols you mentioned in .40. It all comes down to personal preferance. Shoot them all and pick the one you like best.

I'm biased and in the minority (I'm sure): but the Kimbers I've had - two - both had to be sent to my guy at Wilson to be made into fully functioning firearms...then I sold them (with full disclosure) at a huge loss to other collectors.

I've not had ANY problems with ANY of my XDs.

A fluke, or two? Probably. But Kimber will never get any more of my money.

Again, my opinion is very biased, so I'm not sure I'm helping.

Take care,
DFW1911
