Living in Texas with a CHL, I recently traveled to Florida for Business, and I took one of my 9mm with me along with the Florida Gun rules in my back pocket. I was in a restruant the first day, and in walks a police officer, so I stroll over and sit down (with my 9mm in a SOB holster) with this man of the law, and asked him about conceal carry laws in the state of Florida, and to my suprise he had no clue what the rules were. So I filled him in on that subject. Now the point to my Thread is never assume law officers in other states know there own carry laws. Do a little home work before you leave your state. Could save you some problems down the road. There is a book you can buy at your local gun store (at least in Texas) and it has the rules for every state in the country. Can't remember the exact name of the book, but when you find it keep it handy.

I know the rules in my state and adjacent states. They are about the same with my state's rules more restrictive. So, I follow my state's rules elsewhere.

Police knowledge is one of the reasons that the CCW permit is useful even if it is considered inconvenient by some (including me).
