lanolin residue

Hi Guys,
for reloading lube i use lanolin and isopropyl alcohol mixture which leaches a film of lanolin on my cases.

After resizing some clearly gets in the neck of the case, i wipe the excess from the outside but is it detrimental to the performance if some gets inside the case. the only thing i noticed about it was that H450 stuck to it, but i am using cylindrical powder which is better in that respect at the moment.

Cleaning the brass using my small ultrasonic cleaner is a real pain in the arse so i would rather not do it. I load for hunting usually using psp bullets.

The Dillon pump spray case lube is lanolin in an alcohol carrier. In all our our testing, the lanolin residue will not adversely affect either powder or primers. We do suggest removing the lanolin from the outside of the cartridges before firing them, either by wiping them off, or if you have a vibratory cleaner, you can run the loaded rounds in plain corncob for 10-15 minutes to remove the lube.

Since lanolin is derived from the wool of sheep, it's about the same as the oil on your hair. It will have some affect on powder burning, but I'm not sure how much. You could lay out your brass so that when you're spraying it, you would be spraying from the base of the cases, and hopefully very little would get into the case neck.

I use other spray lubes and after sizing, I tumble them for about half an hour in untreated corn cob and that removes all traces of the lube.
