Hello Everyone,

I bought a LaserLyte Side Mount laser for my LCP a while back. The price was good and I did not have to change out my holsters (pocket and IWB). I installed it but I never could make it line up center when using the tools to align it.

Can't really find anything where others are having the same problem, but did read enough to wonder about things like maximum distance effectiveness and the like. I am thinking because it is on the side, it would align with the front side only at a certain distance and after that would go to the left of the front sight. On a number of posts, the LCP or the 380 was limited in general to a certain number of yards or close quarters.

I try to practice using the LCP with my same shooting stance as that of my Glock 17 or XDS. That too, could be the problem. :banghead: I dunno.

I'd like to hear your thoughts.

It doesn't matter if it is off-set or not.

Yes, the bullet path will cross the laser line past whatever distance you sight it in for.
But it doesn't matter.

Bullet drop will also cause the bullet path to cross the laser line twice at short and again at longer distance.
But it doesn't matter

Nobody can hold an LCP steady enough while standing on their two hind legs so you won't jerk the shot off further then that divergence when the heavier then the gun trigger pull breaks.

You have a pocket gun, with bad breath accuracy at best.
SO if the bullet and laser dot coincide somewhere closer then 15 yards??

That's all it needs to do.

Am I over thinking this thing?
Most assuredly, Yes!

You are.

I have a 11 oz S&W 317 .22 with CT laser grips on it.

I can sight it in to coincide with the sights at 25 yards on a rest.
And it is off 4" due to recoil when hand held standing.

I can sight it in off a benchrest close enough to kill fly's on the target at 15 yards.
But it is off several inches when hand held standing up.

All due to differences in recoil when hand held.

So it doesn't matter.

I sight it in hand-held, standing up, by shooting it.
And any beer can within 15-20 yards is in a world of hurt.

I can't see the red dot past 25 yards in daylight anyway.

So it don't matter.

A laser on a pocket gun does not make it a match grade gun.

RCModel,

Thanks, I'll leave it alone. I am a computer person by day and I guess the thing that bothered me the most was it just did not align (for me) at any distance...never did. I actually did leave this issue alone when I got my XD-S. Now the recall...

Might take the laser off (and live at the range) so the holsters fit like they did before.
