Does any one have any recommendations for a laser? I’d like to mount one on my S&W model 22S .22lr target pistol. It will only be used at night, so doesn’t have to be the brightest one available. And here’s the important part: I want to mount it on the scope mount. The 22S has a vent rib / flat top, onto which sights are built. So basically the entire top is one big scope mount rail. I’m not sure what you call it, weaver mount maybe (not to familiar with scopes or their mounts)? Anyway I can mount standard scope rings on it if that helps.

What do you suggest?

BTW: I’m really not interested in red dot scopes; and know that lasers are mainly gimmicky macho toys. But I still want one.

I have a Crimson Trace laser on my Sp101. It’s a valuable tool not a toy by anymeans. However I once put a cheap clamp on laser on my S&W 422 and was very disappointed. This was one that attached to the trigger guard. It was very difficult to sight in and hold the laser on target. I sent it back. I had the S&W tapped and mounted a BSA red dot scope on it. On a target pistol the red dot scope works much better. CT does make some grips for .22’s check their website.

If it is just on a 22.... This should be ok.
I went to cure my laser jones, Walmart had the cure. In the hunting/bb gun section they have a laser for 20$. multiple mount style hardware and activation methods (wire w/pressure toggle or push button) comes with it and it takes two #357 energizer batteries. Hardware to mount to trigger guard or lower rail and with minor mods could mount to scope rail on top. though you may hinder iron sight use, which would be a terrible idea for daytime use. This lil gadget does seem to fit the bill for ya. try it out as an inexpensive alternative to buying something more expensive. Especially when you may decide you really don't like the laser idea after all.

I highly recommend the Crimson Trace lasergrips. I have a set on my Browning HighPower and on my S&W 442, & just bought a set for my Combat Commander. I also have the Lasermax on my Glock-26..... CT is better. They are definitely not a toy. Look around, you will find reports of users who have been using them up to 5 years & thousands of rounds with very reliable function.
