this model 725 in 3006 made in december 1957 serial # 700182(serial numbers started at 700000) making it the 182 one made, i got it at a public auction estate sale. it is in ex condition inside and good condition(was hunted up untill six years ago) outside, it never had a scope on it and after firing it with the open sights(dead on at 150 yrds) i don,t think i,ll put a scope on it as it comes up well and handles fine. they only made it a few years as the model 700 came out in about 1962. i think it has the same quality as the pre-64 winchester model 70,s. and i like it as much and maybe a little more that the model 700 of today. eastbank.

The Model 725 is my favorite Remington bolt-action rifle of all time, classic in every way and fully the rival of the Winchester Model 70 of its day in terms of quality workmanship and material, safety, finish, reliability, accuracy and value The last Remington bolt-action rifles made that evidenced a safety (albeit 2-position) that locked the bolt shut when on "safe" (the next best thing to a 3-position safety imo) were all Model 700s made up until 1982. Thanks to corporate attorneys more concerned with adverse litigation than the utility of a firearm, all subsequent Model 700 rifles can be unloaded with the 2-position safety "on".
