Wow, we need to stop this. This is why founding fathers chose "Constitutional Republic" where will of the majority could not be imposed on the rights of the minority.

But since push for "National popular vote" may be losing traction, now they want the "Electors" to cast vote according to "popular" sentiment of the state instead of party's nominees. Currently there is no Constitutional provision or Federal law that requires Electors to vote according to the results of the popular vote in their states - https://www.archives.gov/federal-register/electoral-college/electors.html

"The U.S. Supreme Court has held that the Constitution does not require that Electors be completely free to act as they choose and therefore, political parties may extract pledges from electors to vote for the parties' nominees."

Now the anti-gun crowd can impose on the rights of 2A supporters by using "popular" sentiment. Heck no!

This thread is gonna get locked, but yeah, popular votes dictating to the electorate is no better than mob rule. And with gun culture on the down trend according to some, it is reasonable to believe that would be a means to an end.

Before it is locked....
And some want to stack the supreme court by adding five or more justices. Won't say who, or what party, but guess. And guess what the outcomes of future cases will be?
It is a non-stop effort to take guns away from all except LE and military. It will never end!

The left has been crying about popular vote since Trump won. The problem is a huge majority dont understand how the EC works. Unfortunately most of that majority live in an area that would benefit from popular vote.

I think it's a long shot but if our voting system did get switched to a popular vote then we're screwed.
