A friend that does gun shows recently asked me about the legality of owning a spent M72 series Light Anti-tank Weapon spent tube. He collects Vietnam era stuff and was wondering if they are available and wants one for the maniquin he has dressed in slash pocket rips stops and boony hat. He was aware of the 3.5 inch Super Bazookas available a few years back that had a large circular hole near the exhoust end to prevent their use. As the LAW was not inteneded to be reloaded and the tube is just a throw away item to the troops he was wanting to know if he can find one would it be legel to own, just like a spent artillery casing.
My response was "IDUNNO"
I seem to recall some surplus place advertising in Shotgun news had them years ago but I have never seen one at a show. We (in the Infantry when I was) were instructed to smash them around a tree or rock after use and stomp them as flat as possible, but I also recal simply recolapsing them and tossing them in the bed of a truck on a range one day where hundreds were fired. I also saw many in the dump for artillery and tank shell cases at Graf one year.
Anyone know the straight skinny?
Hey, a rocket launcher is not a firearm!
