My friend enquired about putting a lazer on his Desert Eagle.. What model or company should he look at?

Does anyone know of any good deals available on one?

No, no, no, no, no. Just no to all of that. No. No lasers. No desert eagles. No lasers on desert eagles. No.

In case you can't tell, I'm not a big fan of either lasers or desert eagles.

Ok, that is all fine and good....but I just need the information, not the opinions.

BTW, I feel the same way:rolleyes:

I imagine that one of the more general units that attach to the trigger guard would be fine. There is no room inside the slide for one, and Lasergrips probably aren't made for such esoteric weapons. I'd look for whatever is basic.

I think DE's are okay, especially for hunting or targets, neither of which are assisted by a laser. So this is silly to me, too.

Lasermax makes guiderod lasers, don't know if they make them for Desert Eagles, but I haven't checked.

I don't think Crimson Trace makes them for DE's.

I thought I saw some chin-mounted ones for DE's or maybe I was playing too much Half-Life???

If he absolutely needs/wants it, and nothing else were available I would get a scope mount, then mount the laser on the mount?

Well, I have q DE, and I like it. But I'd second the no laser idea. There was one made for a short while that specifically fit it, but as far as i can tell it isn't made anymore and there isn't exactlya thriving used market for them. You'd have to go with any of the generic trigger guard mounted lasers.

I like my DE for the range, I could see hunting with it. I would never use the sucker for carry or defense if given a choice of something else. A laser will pretty much show off how much your hand shakes, and add more bulk to an already bulky gun.

Personally I'd put the money into more magazines (preferably older, as i picked up a couple and they are much less harsh on the fingers sharpness wise), or the high viz adjustable target sights, or the wraparound grips. All of which strike me as more useful than a laser sight for this gun. (heck or practice ammo)

maybe a tripod or vehicle mount would be more appropriate.

bwaaahahahhaaaaaa...

but seriously...

does LaserGrips make a set for the DE? (Crimson Trace, might actually be the name of the company...)

Arin, if Lasermax, Insight, CTC can't help you, and he had LOTS of money to spend, i think Sure-Fire has lasers that mount on accessory rails.

I agree with skunk. I think the only viable option is to get a scope ring mounted laser. By the way, does your friend refer to it as a "deagle?"

Honestly, other than primaries in entry teams, I don't see the big desire for lasers. If he doesn't like iron sights, the something like a Tasco/J Point Optima or the Busnhell Holosight would be a much more effective answer someone wanting alternative sights on a Desert Eagle.

Well, MJRW was asking for it...

Who was I to say no, when he came out all upset about the big chunk of Israeli iron? Then his sig line about the .357... :neener:

I love my .357 Magnum Mark I Desert Eagle, best $400 I've spent in a long time, although a laser isn't in my plans for it:

YES, YES, YES! Notice that's three yes's, for three laser sights. One below the barrel and two above and to the side, where the barrel kind of slopes. A gunsmith should be able to make a suitable mount that'll clamp onto the integral sight rail.

Then your friend can have three red dots, and the bullet striking between them. Can he make predator noises with his mouth?

$400??!!! SCORE!!!!

I see that yours is older model with different safeties, sights, and rail.

Yup, $400.

Well, ok, cash and computer parts adding up to $400.

Very early model, if you look at the serial number. I may retrofit it with a MkVII safety and trigger group. Here's my stepson shooting it:
