LC Smith help

My dad just gave me a LC Smith. It has no stock. All the other parts where refinished MANY MANY years ago. I am just wondering if anyone can give me some info about this gun. The info I get off the gun is Fw 128652 then under that it says Field.

Id just like find out any details about the gun so I can find a stock for it and put it all back together

The company went out of business the last time about 60 years ago.

It is very likely you would be unable to find a factory stock, but a stock-maker could make & fit one to the gun.

Since it is refinished, it could cost more then the gun would be worth.

I just saw a ~1920s vintage field grade in a shop asking was only 3k. it had been used hard.

if its been in the family it may be worth it to you to get it stocked. if not, its still a LC Smith, one of the premier American SxS shotgun makers of the last 150 years. spending some money on a stock and getting it cleaned up and your grandkids will be hunting with it.

these guys do nice shotgun gunsmithing at reasonable prices. they can probly turn you onto a stock

as well these guys. http://www.connecticutshotgun.com/ might be able to point you in the right direction

lastly, i just checked gunbroker is you seacrh "LC smith stock" several semi finished stocks are for sale may fit your needs. good luck on your project !

Elsies are very good shotguns. As a family gun, this deserves restoration or at least conservation.

Wenig will make you wood that fits both it and you, but they do not work cheap.

Elsies are sidelocks, which require a little more care in the inletting around the head of the stock.
