I was looking into buying a Ruger extended 7 shot mag, then saw mention of the Galloway +1 extension for the Ruger 6 shot mag.

It's almost a third the price of a new 7 shot mag, I already have several of the 6 shot mags I could convert to 7 shot at this point.

Has anyone used the Galloway +1 on their LCP mag, if so, how was your experience with it? Any function problems, fit problems, does it stay on well, would you buy it again?

Thanks

Well, getting no responses here, I took the plunge and ordered. They offer free shipping, so I'll try one first and see how it works out. If it works, it's a low cost alternative for someone wanting a 7 shot mag for their LCP if they have a few 6 shots sitting around.

I'll post a review after I receive it.

Took the LCP and the mag with the Galloway +1 extension on it to the range today. It worked perfectly through an entire box of 50 Herter's FMJ.

I normally don't enjoy shooting many in the LCP, I find it uncomfortable, but the extension also seemed to tame the recoil somewhat by letting another finger on the gun so it didn't move around in my hand.

Recommended for anyone thinking of buying the Ruger 7 round mag, this is an easy conversion. Press down the small button in the middle of the mag base and slide the base off. Slide the +1 extension on until the button shows in the hole, done.

I’m not a fan of extension mags unless you plan on carrying it in the gun or are going to use it as your carry spare.

‘To clarify, I mean that I am not in favor of them just for a more comfortable range session. I prefer to practice how I am going to be carrying. Since I personally want the smallest package for concealment, an extension goes against reason, unless used as a carry spare.

That's good thinking.

Is that really more important than an extra round, or a better grip?

I think it also depends how you carry a gun, in this instance, the LCP. If I pocket carried, I wouldn't want the extension. If you carry in a hip holster, the LCP is so small I don't think the size of the extension will make very much difference.

In the rare occasions I carry a spare mag, I carry the one with the extension. Like the OP, mine has given me no problems.
