The only failures I have had were after many rounds of mixed ammo on my break in trip to the range. I think I was at round count 190 when I got a failure to eject followed shortly by a failure to feed. Mind you the gun was really dirty. Took it home, cleaned it and have not had another failure. It feeds gold dots well, and any FMJ I have put in it. I am at approximately 700 rounds so far. I shot the hell out of it for the first month I had it and then just started putting 4 mags through it each time I went to the range. The IDPA group I joined is going to shoot BUG match this week so I will get to shoot another 50 to 100 on Tuesday.

pretty sure mine was post recall
bought it NIB and (believe it or not), bought at least 4 different brands of 380, at least (6) 50rd boxes in total, (maybe 8 boxes) of plain vanilla grade FMJ and shot 'em up in 3 or 4 one day per week range trips.. and some more since

was a tad tuff on my too soft wussie web of hand, after 1st 50 rounds (each time, every time), but never had not one FTF (feed, fire, eject, zero jams)

it what it is, it ain't what it ain't, but pretty sure it will go bang if I pull the trigger w/ a live round chambered, and real inclined to think that (if/when a derringer will do) it sure beats the snot out of any two shot derringer

(I don't choose JHP for me in 380, so place no faith in my post on that option)

My LCP is running a lot better but is still needs a bit of tweaking. The first time I took mine out to the range it had a failure to eject with almost every magazine. I cleaned and lubed it before I went. I was shooting Blazer Brass FMJ. I took it back to the gun shop where I bought it. The gunsmith ran a box of ammo through it, with the same result. They sent it back to Ruger.

I got it back a few days ago. It looks like they polished the chamber and worked over the extractor. I took it out to the range Thursday afternoon. First I put a box of Blazer Brass through it. No problems. Then I put a box of American Eagle through it. No problems. Then I put a box of Spear Lawman through it. After about half a box, I had one failure to eject. So, one jam in 150 rounds. Not perfect, but certainly a lot better. After I got it home I noticed some peening at the rear of the slide near the firing pin. Probably not a big deal, but something to keep an eye on.

All in all I think it is a sweet little gun. I must like it. I just ordered a spare magazine and some 380 reloading dies. Is it going to replace my 642? Time will tell.

FWIW:

My first LCP was perfect right out of the box, reliable and accurate...

As was the 2nd, (my wife's).

As has been the 3rd.. :D

My first (370-series) was perfect with about 150 rounds through it (nearly all JHP). Then came the recall--I sent it in.

While it was gone (only one week) I had the chance to buy a new 371-series for a good price, so I did. I put about 100 through it (again, JHPs; this was before .380 ammo prices went crazy) and it worked perfectly as well.

When the 370 got back, I put another 100 rounds through it (just to be sure) and then sold the 371 to a friend. He carries it every day and has put a bunch more rounds through it.

So I am two-for-two. Having owned two P3ATs previously, I can tell you that the difference was profound. Neither of the K-Ts was worth a fart in a stiff breeze, even after repeated attempts at replacing parts, new magazines, different ammo, Fluff & Buff, etc.

These days, I don't carry my LCP often. I find that after a few years of CHL, I can conceal something larger without too much difficulty, and I trust a larger/more powerful round more than I do the .380. YMMV.

Mine's post-recall. 10 months in, 300 or so rounds fired with zero malfunctions with PMC FMJ, Speer Gold Dot HP, and Hornady FTX.

I have fired about 150 rounds out of mine, with only a single FTE. It hasn't happened again, and I don't really know what caused the malfunction.
I think every gun owner who carries needs to own one of the pocket .380's. They eliminate any excuse not to carry. Doesn't matter what you're wearing, doesn't matter how hot it is out, doesn't matter who you'll be around. You can have a pocket .380 in, well, your pocket
+1

I used to have days when I didn't carry my XD for fear that my summer style of dress would reveal it. My LCP completely eliminated that concern, and with it, brought my rate of carry up to virtually 100%.

What is the difference between Flawless and Utterly Reliable? would seem the same to me.

My LCP was 100% out of the box and did something my Kel-Tec P3AT never could despite lots of free parts from Kel-Tec -- run 50 rounds of Wolf steel case without issues.

brought my rate of carry up to virtually 100%
Yes indeed, this is their #1 virtue!

Now that I have my lcp my ability to have an excuse not to carry (where legal) has dropped to 0%. There's just really no excuse. It's my number one summer concealed carry gun, well maybe until I get my pm9. Sometimes I have to lock and load in my car with 100 degree + heat, so I refuse to do anything but pocket carry in such a circumstance.
