My decapping pin keeps pulling out from the resizing die after resizing...It is a huge pain, what am I doing wrong? My die was adjusted correctly as far as I know.
I use lee Deluxe Rifle Die sets for some calibers. One word of caution, if you ever decide to de-prime some military brass with crimped primers your decapping pin will break. Almost guaranteed.
For crimped in primers I suggest you use this $4.00 product from Lee Precision:
If all you're doing is decapping, get the universal decapping die. If decapping and re sizing, make sure the collet is very tight, and the case neck has some lube in it.
Never had any of my Lee dies pop a decapping rod.
Lone Gunman has it...TIGHTEN up on the collet and run a bore brush dampened with case lube inside the case mouth...
Gentlemen...He just wants his problem solved not spend more money on other gadgets. The problem with his Lee die is an easy solve...And will work fine once he follows Lone Gunman's instructions...
I know the problem! I do like the fact that a collet holds the decap/expander rods centered better than traditional designs do but it can be pill to make it stay in place. I fixed it tho and have the best of both worlds now.
I got a common threading die, think it was 10-32, and threaded the exposed portion of the rod above the collet. Put a nut on it and it can't pull out anymore!
Sir, since he had been given correct information already (lube case mouth and tighten) I was merely cautioning him about crimped military primers and a way to avoid breaking the standard pin.
