I have the lee classic 4 hole press I am going to start to reload 45 ammo. kno I have only been loading 380 and 38 in the past. I guess I can buy a new arm for the press that will fit the larger primers needed for the 45 ammo. if you can send me a link of what I need it would be great.

you need to get a large primer arm--or maybe more.

Here's Lee's site page on the Classic Cast Turret: http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1195525716.5574=/html/catalog/turretpress.html#ClassicTurretPress

Using the link found there for "Serv.Parts", you can get to this link: http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/parts.cgi?1195525716.5574=90064

Since you have been loading small primers, you need to get the large primer arm--scrolling down, you can see P ARM ASSM LARGE:

If you are going to order this arm from Lee, now's a good time to get some spare SQUARE RATCHETS and an AUTO INDEX CLAMP.

OTOH, if you have the Safety Prime installed, then you would want to order the Large Safety Prime.

Once you sort out your part numbers, check either Graf & Sons or Midway for the parts, as well as Lee--it will probably be cheaper from alternative suppliers, but ordering it and other small parts is usually cheaper from Lee--their shipping is typically $4.00.

+1. When I originally set up the press, I used the larger primer arm... not realizing that there were two. The primers ended up flipping, going in sideways, etc, because of small primers in the large cup.

There are two arms that come with most kits. Go back and look in the box.

Kempf's will send out only the primer arm system for the size of dies you order with their kit.

??? I bought my Lee classic turret kit from kemphs, and it came with both primer arms (for large and small primers)

I'm not sure what kit you bought but mine (Classic Turret Kit) only came with the one for small primers since I got a set of .38 Special dies with it. According to their web site it must still be sold that way since they offer an "Upgrade to Lever Prime System for Large & Small Primers" for $8 more.

Well sure enough I checked the box and their it was I sure didn't remeber it coming with it. Thanks

Mine also came with two - but I'm talking about the priming lever arm. It's my understanding that you can buy the Saftey Prime seperately for each, but I bought them as a pair.

If you have the spare ratchet that came with the press, you don't need another. I'm still on my first with about 10,000 rounds loaded. You won't destroy a ratchet as long as you remember to raise the ram slightly before removing or installing a turret. As the ram comes down, the ratchet is "engaged" so obviously it would also be at the bottom of the stroke. It comes out of this condition as the ram rises which is evident by the fact that the turret doesn't turn on the ram upstroke. You definately don't need another housing as all it does is contain the ratchet - there is no adjustment to it at all and it doesn't make any sense to tighten it beyond what is necessary to hold it in place to the cut out on the back of the ram.
