First post question! I'm ordering a Hornady LnL AP, and have not been able to get an answer regarding whether I can use my exising Lee powder through expanding dies along with the Hornady case activated powder measure...? I understand that I can purchase the Hornady 'quick change powder through die,' and then use the appropriate caliber 'Powder Through Expander,' but it would be cheaper to just be able to use my existing Lee powder die (and I've heard mixed reviews on the Hornady 'Powder Through Expanders...').

I appreciate any feedback from folks that have gone through this dilema. Also, if I have to go with the Hornady powder die setup, I'd appreciate feedback on how the expanders work out... I load for 4 calibers, so I would need 4 dies/expanders to go along with the powder measure inserts; correct...?

Thanks for the help.

You can use your powder through expanders in the second station to bell the cases, and use the Hornady measure just to drop powder in the third station, but I don't believe you can set up the measure with the Lee powder through dies. I may be wrong. I just don't see how offhand. You would still need something in the Hornady powder drop to funnel the powder in the case.

Thanks Walkalong... I want to use the RCBS Lockout die, so I'll have to either try their 'powder through expander,' or seat and crimp in the same operation...

Walkalong is correct. I'll add here that you need the powder funnel screw on adapter in order for the expansion plug to stay in place.

This is the part I'm talking about:

Yep. That's the problem.

A machinist could make a funnel to fit the Lee die that was internally threaded on the top half to accept 7/8 X 14 threaded measures.

I bet it would be pricey to have made though.
