Hi there,

First time poster, long time lurker and student of the forums here. I'm a first year law student and I've been trying for some time to find information about legal internship opportunities in the firearms industry/lobby. So far I've called all of the local manufacturers with limited success (I live in CT, there are plenty to choose from). I've contacted some organizations as well (SAAMI and NSSF). But mostly I've been trying my own ideas for leads. The Career Center at school has been of limited assistance, I don't think its their cup of tea. I wanted to know if anyone here had any leads or ideas that might put me on the right track. I tried a search but nothing came up.

Appreciate any assistance

Eric

In the late 1980's or early 90's there was a program at NRA. It was specifically through their the office of their General Counsel. Contact the NRA national office. They may have a list of internship programs.

I'm a 3L here in AZ - are you looking to get paid, or just to have something for your resume? I don't know if gun manufacturers hire law students to work in their legal departments. You could try either the Federal Public Defender or U.S. Attorney's office - very often they have gun crimes and you'll get to do research on various issues. Hey, you want something exciting? Call the Brady Bunch - go in as a spy!

Good luck.
