Legal length of knife???

I am planning on buying a fixed blade knife. It will mainly be used in the woods or for some "light" camping in Kentucky and Tennessee.

I have my CCW (although it doesn't apply in a National Park of course).

Is there any blade length that I should try not to exceed?

Is a 4.5in blade... EVIL.. while a 4in is not??

Is it legal to carry any kind of knife (folding or fixed blade) without it being considered a concealed weapon? (Assuming it is concealed) Or are there "conditions" that make it illegal in some instances?

I RARELY ever carried a knife and then I never worried about it.

I did a search but could not find a lot. (Actually I tried to delete this post but was unable to. Moderators feel free to delete this post since it turns out this question was partially answered before here.)

ANY advice is appreciated.

This is something you'd have to consult your local laws about. Do not, however, ask a cop. They have a tendency to say the first thing that comes into their heads whether or not it's true. Your State laws should be on-line someplace or readily available in the public library.

It is a shame that we have SO many laws. It's virtually impossible to go through life without breaking a few.

You should also visit www.packing.org which is a great site that covers CCW & gun rights broken down by state. In addition to gun laws, it also lists knife laws by state.

In Texas:

(6) "Illegal knife" means a:
(A) knife with a blade over five and one-half inches;
(B) hand instrument designed to cut or stab another by being thrown;
(C) dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stilletto, and poniard;
(D) bowie knife;
(E) sword; or
(F) spear.

I love Texas. 5.5 inches is a pretty big EDC knife, for sure. I carry a 4 inch knife, and some people lose the color in their face when they see it.
