I'm a little confused. Do I need to fill out ATF form 1 or ATF form 4 if I plan to build my own suppressor? I'm in NC, have a NFA Trust setup, just need to fill out the right form and send in $200.
Thanks

If you have a trust you can file online at the ATF eForms site. Saves you some postage and maybe it gets approved faster than a paper form.

I just received the approval email this morning for an efile Form 1 silencer that was submitted November 17.

I submitted another one the day 41F was announced. Wonder how long that one will take? :(

I'm kind of dreading this too. My last two SBR's that I e-filed took 10 and 12 weeks and I'm guessing the suppressor I ordered which I'll be filing for next month will take forever. I bet their backlog is spiking like crazy.

Mamb1911 - there's lots of resources and designs on the internet if you're looking for ideas but just an FYI I don't think the mods at The High Road like posts asking for designs when you get to that point.

Have fun, hope you post pictures of it when you're finished!

At one time near the end of the post-Newtown peak (after they had hired a bunch of new examiners) the times were even shorter than that for eforms. I submitted one that cleared in 40 days, and that included the Christmas holiday.

Just to be clear, Constructive Possession applies to assemblages of parts for SBR, SBS, AOW, DD, etc.

Be forewarned: For MG and Silencers, certain parts themselves or in partial combinations are NFA (Auto sear possessed with an AR, Baffles by themselves, etc.)

I would not make any baffles until you receive the Form 1.

Mike

Form 1 wait times are trending down towards 2.5 to 3 months.
