Here's a set of flintlocks duelers that I have posted before. Once again issued back during our Bicentennial in 1976 by the US Historical society. They were the 2nd commemorative set released after the George Washington set--posted earlier in this thread. This finely made set is an exact copy of the set used in the famous 1804 duel between former secretary of the Treasury--Alexander Hamilton and the then sitting vice president--Aaron Burr. The originals are on display at the headquarters of J. P. Morgan Chase--formerly Chase Manhattan Bank and before that the Manhattan bank. They were sold to the Manhattan bank during the depression in the 1930s by the descendants of John Church. Church and Hamilton were married to sisters, and he had loaned the set to Alexander for the duel.

Ironically, the Manhattan bank was originally founded by Aaron Burr--the man who killed Hamilton.

@forward observer, love the duelers. I have always wanted to build a pair of flintlock dueling pistols from kits, and display them in a custom-built glass-topped coffee or end table ... something I still hope to do come retirement.

@forward observer, those are gorgeous dueling pistols.

@Rockrivr1 very nice collection of mil surps; also love the 99's, what caliber is yours? My uncle hunted with a 99 in 300 Savage for years.

Not even near the ball park of FO's pistols. Doubt that I have the patience or ability to complete such a detailed project, but had fun putting this kindergarten level kit together years ago.
