When I saw the photo of all those Mosins the first thing I thought was why did Gunny get a new user name?

Anyways you both have fine collections of a certain bolt action rifle even though that one photo of the Finnish and Swedish rifles looks suspiciously like it was taken on Gunny's deck as well!

I think I like it!

Yeah, definitely not something you see everyday. That is about as tactical as I get...

I bedded a QD socket in the wrist, sort of mimicking the old cavalry sling style, but without having to modify the action itself. The stock is a youth laminate off a 20 gauge shotgun I picked up cheap, and that already had some scrapes and bruises. It hangs very naturally by my side, and is easy to walk with even with a pack on. I wouldn't want to do an all day trek, but it is fine for several miles especially if you lay a hand on it. No need to adjust or remove the sling to bring it up to shoulder. It is incredibly handy getting in and out of trucks or utvs, because you just leave the sling on and quick release the rifle to stash behind the seat or wherever. I swapped that old Bushnell out for a 2.5x Barska with longer eye relief, so now the scope sits lower and just forward of the hammer for easy cocking.

The whole thing takes down with one screw that a penny can undo, and goes nicely into a little 24" Skinner case, complete with the 20" 20 gauge youth barrel. Very compact, versatile little package. Plus since you can just drop it by your side to be hands free, and it is an extractor model, you can shoot and collect brass without anything ever touching the ground. Anyone who reloads will see the value in that...
