My brother has one of those Fallschirmjager gravity knives and I was really surprised at the overall size of it! Not at all like the Schrade switchblade knife made for U.S. paratroopers.

I was also surprised by the size, and more so, the weight. Generally paratroopers were equipped with lighter gear.

Based on blade size, it might have had double duty as a fighting knife. It's not visible in my photo, other side of the knife, but it also has a fold out marlin spike blade for dealing with tangled cords.

You could be right about the gravity knife also being used as a weapon because I think German paratroopers didn't take their principle weapons with them when they jumped. Everything they had for equipment was in a separate container that was dropped with them. They may have had a sidearm like a P38 with them but nothing else to fight with until they made it to the weapons container.

I saw your gun and knife combo and the first thing I thought of was "Beauty and the Beast"!

I will let you decide which one is which...

I know what you mean. The picture is visually deceptive in that the revolver is actually very large.

The knife is enormous, ugly, and cheap (similar to its owner). I use it for cutting branches and saplings and stuff in the yard, and for all of the cardboard boxes my wife accumulates. It's just an inexpensive Schrade, but if anyone needs something like that just to do work with, I would recommend it.

Praised be Lord. Found my pocket knife I bought years ago. I saved $6.97 and a trip to Walmart.
