Let's see the .22 rifles that make you smile

I would like to say this is my rifle-but it isn't. It belongs to Chuck, my snooty neighbor who gets his kicks making me envious. It's a Model 52 Winchester converted to left hand operation, a remarkable piece of gunsmithing, topped off with spectacular stock work and engraving... NIGHTLORD40K Here are a few of my Savages The two with scopes are 22 Hornets.....so I guess they kinda sorta qualify for this thread. I cheated on the middle gun, it is a 25-20. The second pic is my sporter, but it is not a mod. 23. It only has one locking lug, the root of the bolt handle. There is no model # on it. It just says "Savage Sporter." It is a 97% gun so I shoot it sparingly.
Gorgeous!

That Model 52 a couple of posts up is a tough act to follow. Nonetheless, this 77/22 has been making me smile since the day I bought it in 1992. Nikon 4X Pro Staff for the scope. Has had trigger springs done and nothing else. Really have had a lot of fun with it. It's taken a fair few squirrels and rabbits and an occasional raccoon. Last used on a feral cat.

I bought it to emulate my M77 RL. They do resemble each other. The M 77 RL is .270 Win. Bought it new in 1985. Scope is Bushnell Elite 3200 Firefly. The firefly part is handy early and late. Shine a flashlight through the eye piece for a minute or so and the reticle glows green for about 15 minutes. Killed a lot of deer with this rifle.

Offfhand, your snooty neighbor Chucks 52 is stunning to put it mildly. The scrolling workmanship on the stock is amazing. Looks like something the Czar of Russia would have had made to match the Faberge' Imperial eggs. Thanks for posting.

Mr. Rembrandt, Snooty Chuck can be really unbearable when he's in the mood and toting his newest guns to my house to show off. Czar of Russia about sums him up, he will appreciate the comparison. Here's a southpaw Kimber he had rebarreled and stocked. I suspect he keeps his private gunsmith locked in a dungeon somewhere.. DSC_0106.JPG DSC_0112.JPG DSC_0115.JPG DSC_0118.JPG

I had one like the Deluxe model you have, but I think it was made on Hangover Monday because the sights were at about 11:30 o'clock, the scope mount holes weren't aligned to the bore, and the extractor didn't work worth a darned. It's gone!

Did you drill and tap for that or does it mount to the dovetail? Do you remember the model?

Almost looks like what I have on the Win94 attached at the top instead of the side?
It's a Williams WMS FP GR TK #9685. Mounts to the dovetail. Real easy install. Mine zeroed at 20 or 25 yards with the sight bottomed out. Doesn't work out for everyone from what I hear.

20200120_202452.jpg 20200120_202511.jpg This one is my favorite. I painted the parts and my dad put it together for me. The reciever was from a bicentennial 10-22 my parents bought at a gun show when I was a kid. I probably shot 10,000 rounds through it growing up. He installed a aluminum tactical solutions barrel and set it in a houge stock. I painted the the parts and painted in a spirit of 76 logo on it. I call it "ol'76" and it shoots remarkably straight!!

For a handful of years now, any time I’m shooting a 22LR rifle, it’s always and exclusively for a purpose, one or another. Whether hunting, training my son, or practicing for precision rifle, it seems most of my 22 LR shooting these days is burdened with purpose.

Except my Chargers. Shooting long range with Ruger 10/22 Charger pistols is one of my favorite ways to spend a rare, free afternoon. A rare opportunity to unsaddle from purpose, and do something I truly enjoy for the sake of it.

Only one .22 - a Kimber 82 Custom Classic with gorgeous wood - topped with a VX3i Leupold 3.5-10x50 - a beautiful rifle and a tack driver. I was fortunate to have purchased it years ago before production was halted.
