Here's a copy of an e-mail I wrote to eBay today regarding their policies on firearms and accessories. If you aren't aware, they will be enacting new policies on June 8 that ban the sale of firearms parts/accessories for "assault weapons".

It's a damn shame and in my opinion.......this whole thing is criminal. The letter could be better I suppose, but it gets the point across. Unfortunately, I doubt it will matter to them. They, along with other businesses, obviously are being directed by something other than customers.

Dear eBay,

As an eBay seller and moreso, a buyer........I strenuously urge eBay to reconsider its new policy of not allowing certain firearm accessories to be put up for auction any longer.

eBay policies are getting too political and they are already over the top when it comes to firearms. They are too restrictive and offensive. eBay is demonstrating an anti-gun position with these new policies and whether it is because eBay is being bullied into it or is actually anti-gun, will not matter to the eBayers who are very upset about this. I am one of those eBayers and I for one have done hundreds of dollars of business on eBay simply because of firearms accessories. eBay firearms policies will hurt business financially and politically, because as with Kmart for example, anti-gun attitudes (such as Kmart and now the ones eBay has taken on) in a nation founded on priniciples of gun ownership and the 2nd Amendment will come back to haunt you.

The progressive anti-gun positions that eBay continues to build on are very negative and offensive to large numbers of Americans and others......many of whom are eBayers.

Please reconsider the soon to be enacted eBay policies. They will serve only to damage eBay success and the freedoms that Americans pride ourselves on.

Sincerely,

eBay buyer & seller

Ebay has traditionally been anti 2nd amendment - people are only starting to complain about it now.

Additionally, their policies suborn fraud and are acting solely in the interests of higher profits - they have never been in the business of helping consumers.

FWIW, I've lost thousands selling on Ebay. NEVER AGAIN.

Gas is $2.00+ a gallon. Why isn't everyone talking about boycotting the oil companies. I need gas worse than assault weapon parts. I guess if you really think about it, you can't boycott every company that does something unethical or illegal. You'll be walking around naked, cold, hungry, and beating people in the head with a stick.

Well....this is a GUN forum.

I suspect if you check out a GASOLINE forum or something, people might be discussing GASOLINE over there.:neener:

Oh that's just not right.....:D

Back on topic....I've also bought and sold lots of things on ebay. I'll send them a letter opposing any policy that restricts free trade of legal firearm accesories. It's another step towards approving de facto bans on firearms and accesories.

Ebay certainly can't claim to be taking the moral high ground. Go to ebay and do a search for something like "swat knife", "tactical", etc. and see HOW MANY knives are sold through ebay..

I would bet money that the knives sold on ebay are used in crimes exponentially more times than any firearm related product.:banghead:

p.s. I went to the gasoline forum and posted my oppsition to the mounting fuel costs as well:neener: :D

What's Ebay's email or snail mail address that you are sending that message to?

I've just spent several minutes going over page after page of Ebay stuff looking for their contact info.

here's the message I will be sending.

Dear Ebay:

I was upset learn that you will be adopting the following policy:

* The sale of any assault weapon-related parts or accessories will not be permitted. This will apply to all parts and accessories related to any firearm defined as an "assault weapon" by federal or California law.
* The sale of any firearm receiver or firearm frame will not be permitted. This includes complete receivers and frames; components and parts of receivers and frames; or "cut", "80%", or "partially complete" receivers.

This policy will accomplish two things.

First, it will make lots of law-abiding gun owners upset with you.

Second, it will make lots of upset gun owners never again buy or sell or even search on Ebay for any item ever again.

When you implement this policy, you will lose me as a patron.
