It's not the initial recoil, but the second recoil when the spring and piston reach the end of the stroke and rebound. Very similar to cracking a whip. I have trashed many good scopes on spring piston rifles, I wouldn't try the Leu. unless you could spare it when it broke. I have a whole box of scopes that have crosshairs that no longer cross, or are tilted, are blurry, or make funny rattles. There are dedicated airgun scopes that will take the abuse, they also will focus to within 10 or 15 feet, which comes in handy on an air rifle.
